Good stuff bud. I learn a lot from your PO videos, you really dig into them and also make things easy to understand. Keep it up!

Thanks a lot! It kind of blows my mind that no one else has gone this far in depth with the pocket operators, they're extremely capable if you put in the time with them!

Yeah nice one...everyone seems to love the PO tutorials, As do I, Your are one of the few that really explains step by step how these little monsters work. Through you tutorials I have really stepped up my PO game and stretched my chops, they aren't really that difficult. So many of us will get one, two or more Pocket Operators but we'll let them sit in box doing, nothing for months, out of fear of facing the learning curve.

This is why I find myself gravitating more toward the older POs. The metal series are incredibly powerful and capable, but much more complex. I barely touch my PO-33 even though I know it can do amazing things and I really want to. I just know that 10 minutes on my PO-20 and I can have a nice song....But if I just spend the time to learn the PO-33, I should be able to do the same thing with it.

Thanks to both of you! It's funny, I find the PO-20 to be just as, if not more, complicated than the metal series!

2:33 starts to explain clean sampling kind of wanted to hear a comparison with the po-35's clean one versus your synth with the original sample
@rlynker4 жыл бұрын
I was thinking the same thing. Removing the noise made it sound like it was the same as the original....though I'm sure it's still not quite. I am going to try to replicate this (kinda) with my Korg NTS-1 and see how close it is to the original. One this is for sure, it really turns this voice synth into a great sounding real monophonic sampling synth WITH control of your key and scale type. Yet another example that Free Beats has provided for why the PO-35 is a very underrated PO!
@shmiqqy4 жыл бұрын
@@rlynker let me know how it goes when you compare the two, i have yet to get a po-33 but after learning that the po-35 can change pitch without affecting speed unlike the 33 or the op-1, i feel compelled to buy one down the line, the noise in sampling is the only thing that bothered me
@FreeBeat4 жыл бұрын
Unless you care about polyphony, definitely get the PO-35 first. The ability to change keys and scales is a lifesaver when it comes to working the speak into your music!
@shmiqqy4 жыл бұрын
@@FreeBeat the 33 functioning like a mini mpc is what makes it a priority to me because i can use it with my op-1 to basically have more tracks, the 35 doesn't really have a lot of what i want but time stretching and pitch shifting would've made it worth getting, i'm still doing my research though

Hi, I bought my PO 35 (I also have PO 32 and 33) and I was very frustrated with the quality of the recording...so noisy and faulty. Now I start to accept the idea of this PO that is different Thanks for your video, it's very good. I still need to improve the sound quality of the recorded voices, ..... they all sound better than mine :( I will continue to watch your videos.

My biggest tip for the PO-35 is to use that secret menu to remove the noise. Other than that, the cleaner your sample source, the better it will sound. Hope that helps, and good luck!

there's no noise control on the KO tho sadly

Yeah the PO-33 is inherently a lo-fi sounding device. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it can't be tricky to get a super clean sound out of it.

Hmm. Learned some things here. Inspired me to grab my PO-35 which usually just lays around collecting dust.

Thanx for making these good video's. Everybody just have to figure out how to use this. With no graphic feedback. It's very quirky. But cool. I want to use this in some new songs.

Glad you liked it! You're right, it is extremely quirky, but I think that makes it all the more charming of an instrument!

Great video; showing how to get a cleaner sample really helps get some of the 'PO-33' functionality out of the PO-35. Clean sampling is the main value proposition of the 33, but if the 35 can nearly replicate a clean sound, along with having the voice parameters, it can do the 33's job and then some, wouldn't you say?
@FreeBeat4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I'd say the PO-35 does a lot of stuff better than the PO-33, but the PO-33 can do quite a bit more overall. They wind up complimenting each other very very well! I love to sample the PO-35 into the PO-33 to add polyphony to the 35, you can get some real complex stuff by doing that!
@gabesoto62804 жыл бұрын
@@FreeBeat What would you say is the biggest benefit you get out of the PO-33 that you can't get out of the PO-35?

Hopefully soon! Unfortunately my PO-33 is almost beyond usability due to the screen being shattered and a couple other dings :( I'm looking to get a new one soon though! Thanks for watching!
