The fact this guy is out hunting on your property without telling you and you're out there working - potentially downrange - is unsettling to say the least. I'm glad this didn't blow up into a big beef between neighbors.

Same thing happened to my brother. He called the police and it ended up being a neighbor who now gives his family trouble. He mows around his property’s edge to scare the dear away as soon as he sees my brother head into the woods early in the morning. The neighbor is quite the butt now with loud music and other antics. Pretty cool your guy came and apologized.

As a life long ethical hunter I approve of you for turning him in. I wonder if I would have been as forgiving him for trespass on my property. I have had trespassers but not during game violations. Tractor and tool theft did result in charges.

I live in the woods in the Mountaindale area by Pumpkin Ridge in the North Plains area. The sad thing is that we have gun shots all the time through out the whole year. That is probably the same herd that comes this way too. I've had elk meat in my freezer before, but I don't like poachers, and I wouldn't like anyone hunting on my property either. Good for you.

Informative story, how this assumed-legal hunting incident turned out to be poaching and was investigated and charged. I hope the guy's apology was sincere and not just window dressing for his court case. He prob thought nobody would find out, report it, or look into his hunting status. And that's prob how it goes most times. I wonder how much an Oregon hunting license with elk tag costs, and are they available, or lottery only? Anyway, you did the right thing, hope no bad feelings between neighbors comes from it.

😊👍Hi Halibut, regarding the the apology, I’m not sure how sincere it was, l took him at his word. Cautiously optimistic. Regarding the tag, you can get a general season bull tag, the cow tags are a lottery / points draw. I learned later that this had been going on several years and it is unlikely he ever had a tag. Sorry you went through this situation. Laws are put into place to keep the peace. When everyone follows the law we all live a bit better. I'm glad the fellow apologized to you. Have you thought about those motion activated cameras that folks use to observe wildlife? Might help keep a little peace of mind to see whats happening around the hard to get to areas of your property. Just a thought. 🤗 Take care you two.

Hi Storm! I don’t disagree with that thought in theory. The problem being that, at least in our state, is that there are simply not enough animals for everyone to do whatever they want. Regardless of personal beliefs, violating game laws have significant consequences. Additionally, trespassing on another’s land is unacceptable. Thanks for checking out the video . Take care!

Hay buddy it's Kevin 4 Diamond ranch I have filled a lawsuit against kioti over my tractor man I get poachers to I don't call pigs I take weapons and if there in a truck flattened all tires happy walking all my properties are federal land patent untouchable and great friend government doesn't own the animals your awsome your the best

As an Aussie, I am unfamiliar with Elk. Do they get poached/ hunted for meat, skins, racks, or all of the above? We hunted in South Africa when I was little but it was only and ever for the pot, not for trophy reasons. And every skerrick of the meat would be used. So poacher annoy me no end. You handled it well.

🌟👍 They are typically hunted for meat, some times for their rack. The elk in our area are 300-500 lbs, so there is quite a bit of meet. In some cases poachers take more animals than legal tagged hunters. Appreciate you checking out the video. Cheers mate!😊🍺

Hi Marshall! I do not exactly know. I did contact the state police a while back and they told me that they we’re moving forward with the case and that he confessed. Oregon does have specific sanctions for the violations he committed, but I do not know the final outcome. Thanks for checking out the video!🇺🇸

Sounds to me this guy is shady all the way around. Had he not got caught he probably would have never said anything about it. I'd be very weary of what else he's capable of doing in the future

😊 I hear where you are coming from. The property he entered from and did have permission to be on, is a farm. I know the farmer and he often trades food for labor etc. We also have food banks in the area. I don’t think it was a food issue, more of an opportunity, but I really don’t know the reason for it. Poachers annoy the bejeezus out of me. They have no morals, quite often no skill and the animals get left behind injured and in agony. It’s Okay if you eat the meat but I don’t understand collecting the rack except as bragging rights.
