@justinbergmans36 So many people forget Poch took over a Chelsea side that were 12th on 44 points the season before he arrived. He improved them to 6th on 63 points and the team was cooking by the end of the year. He had a good thing going at Chelsea and was just getting started. Improving a side by 19 points in one season in the Premier League is no joke.

As someone who grew up playing soccer in the US, it’s clear that most clubs and teams care more about money, than talent. If the US actually took soccer seriously, they would be a powerhouse but the amount of talented kids who get left behind and quit playing bc their parents can’t afford to sign them up to clubs is insane. Even in schools, parents who donate money to the organization get an edge and have their kids picked first to keep the money coming in which is sad but true
@interstellarbeatteller9306Ай бұрын
As an Englishman who has loosely followed US soccer for 30 years, I find the lack of progress around 'Grassroots' football is astounding. For a Country that has a huge population, excellent infrastructure & talented athlete's, it's crazy not to utilize that. I fear the lack of promotion & relegation within a closed system is a major reason for this.
@HerveBoisdeАй бұрын
Yet another failing of capitalism. Look at how Iceland collectively organized themselves to create a foundational system to grow the sport and provide the youth and upper level players the support they needed to progress. The US is the opposite. Short term gain at the expense of a long term vision for a higher ideal
@interstellarbeatteller9306Ай бұрын
@@HerveBoisde 💯 Iceland is basically a volcanic rock with a population of 380,000 & about 75 senior men's clubs - they should not be competing on any level but they do. The fact that you have to buy your way into the top soccer division is the first red flag. It automatically demotes all other leagues as inferior, and stunts the growth of the game in favour of the growth of the MLS.
