My wife bought 3. (she was a shopaholic) but the old heavy rubber hose was still fine after more than twenty years, until I hit it with the lawnmower making it about 7 feet shorter. So hooked up one of these. It lasted one year, about 10 uses, then it blew out somewhere in the middle of the length. So I hooked up the second one. It lasted three uses before it blew out . Three uses, not three years. I'm on the third one now. I'm not expecting much. These are the crinkly green ones. I'm glad I didn't throw away my heavy rubber hose. I'll get a repair kit, for about $1.00.

Coincidentally, I purchased this hose just yesterday at my local Home Depot 3/4" @ 75 ft. I don't hold much faith in these, as I've had every color or iteration there has been. Blue, Lime green and black. I have several of the black versions in use around my home, but they all seem to eventually burst. I think storing them 'inside' is just a stupid suggestion. They're hoses and they belong outside. I hope this one lasts longer. Thanks for your review. I wish us both luck!
@Freakinreviews7 жыл бұрын
Hah thanks. I think the "storing inside" direction may also be with future litigation in mind. "Oh you didn't store it inside? Then it's your fault for not following the instructions!"

Dan M : That's not going to fly in court Dan. A hose is a hose is a hose. Until freezing nights & cold days it's to be kept outdoors. Another class action, another loss for the makers of this sham product. They are just trying to build a better mouse trap & we are the suckers sticking our fingers in the thing to see if it nearly cuts it off or not. Hell when my dad bought one of those green (tank) hoses that lasted! If you broke the nozzle buy a new one & get on with it.

Ok I know I said I wouldn't buy any more of these hoses but I needed one and I thought I'd see if this one is any good. I find that it doesn't expand like yours but that is because I have a well and well pump where you have city water. I'm hoping that works in my favor and it doesn't leak. If it does I will keep the ends and like I said in my other comment I'll make my own hose haha. So far my pocket hose is still working, I bought it maybe a week or so ago.
@strangecathedrals7 жыл бұрын
The car weight on the hose that up and retracted to stop the flow of water doesn't bother me since it didn't crimp the hose itself. Or blow a ton of water through the engine? *I expect you to let us know immediately if this happens! Thank you for the thorough review. However, I would think that the expansion/contraction due to normal use would be the best test. Leaving the hose on for some period of time is probably one good test but some of the reviews on Amazon state that this hose developed pinhole leaks weeks after normal use.
@Freakinreviews7 жыл бұрын
I've been taking it outside, putting it under pressure, watering my plants and palm tree, and bringing it back inside every few days. I think part of the key is to drain it and take it inside every night. Now that we're having a crazy heatwave here in Vegas, I wonder if the hose will be able to handle even being stored in my garage, because it's pretty hot in there.

It seems to me that the true test would be leaving it hooked up with pressure on as in watering the lawn during a hot sunny day and if it doesn't burst after a day or two I would say it probably got it fixed.After all a good garden hose will pass this test.
@Freakinreviews7 жыл бұрын
Hey Dave. That hose is actually outside right now, under pressure. So far, so good. The only problem is that it's not supposed to be left outside, which probably defeats some of the convenience of the hose. That said, I think draining it and bringing it inside after each use is probably the best chance to get it to last.

I just bought one from Ollie's today and thought before I opened it to check a review. Hey there, is this compared to the Zero G or the Zero G better? However, the Zero G is rated for drinking water for the use in an RV/boat. I bought a brass bullet hose. Yesterday the temperature was in 90's. I used it successfully for 1 month. I noticed yesterday the hose was leaking from a hole. I have had experience with other expandable hoses and every one of them was no good and did not last. I also believe it also was possible a stray cat played with this hose and punctured it causing the leak. I suggest after use hose should be de-pressurized and stored in plastic bucket to prevent cats from puncturing hose. I don't recommend this hose because it is not puncture resistant. In English it sucks.

I don't remember if I've ever had a Pocket hose, but have had five different collapsible hoses, and they were ALL total failures. Some blew the ends off, some sprung geyser-like leaks, one didn't permit the water to flow through (that was strange), and, well that's enough. It would be fair to say that I'm not a big fan of collapsible hoses.
