nice to hear from you again, good sharpening tips. i had to learn most of this from trial and error. i'm probably better off for it in the long run but i ruined a few knives as a kid trying to sharpen them myself when no one would help me. cant wait for more vids, you make some of my favorite.

Good, thorough series on pocket knives. I have just recently re-discovered "traditional" pocket knives, and the classic patterns. I have used/collected knives for years and love the tactical stuff, but classics are that for a reason...they get the job done! Thanks and I just subscribed.

Blackie a good tip I use malt vinegar on kitchen paper towels soaked in that vinegar wrap carbon steel blade up it will force a grey patina protect the blade somewhat too keep checking during process after few minutes Till desired colour tone is achieved 👍🐾🦊🇬🇧

Thanx Blackie, When I ordered a knife from Cold Steel, They threw in a gift in, On this particular order they gave me a knife called a KUDU it look's very similar to Your French Locking Knife with the Pull Ring Lock, They said they got the design from Africa, and that I was a inexpensive knife everybody had, But I could understand the French being their with that design, My C.S. is a inexpensive quality, it's made with a 4.116 Krupp Steel, which is similar to 440a But C.S. claims it's a little better, Yeah its a larger blade pocket knife and I really don't use it, But now that I'm getting into pocket knives more and more, I might fetch it and start using it, Thanx for reminding me I even had it. The biggest reason for my all of a sudden change to use a pocket knife, And as smart as I am, Yeah, Right, anyhow I would sit around the camp fire having coffee and whittling with my belt knife, and that might be Ok, but it does use up your sharp edge, So with a pocket knife my belt knife stays sharper, and sharpening a less expensive pocket knife for me is easier to sharpen in camp. Thanx for sharing your expertise, I also enjoyed your Khukuri video's. and now I know the difference between a Kukuri looking knife and a real Khukuri, Yeah You helped me make my choice to have my M-43 made also in a smaller versiin, I have a larger one which chop's like a Beast, and a more managable size in the same pattern but smaller, it still is a good chopper but better to wear on person, I also got a C.S. Kukuri Plus made in the O1, which is one of my Fav's choppers, it's lite, and where tge tang starts on it it appears to be thicker then starts to tapper, Anyhow Thanx, Blackie.

Say Heah Blackie, I'm having a very hard time finding any information on a Slipjoint Pocket Knife I just bought at the neighborhood pawn shop. It's a Wilkinson Sword, INOX Stainless, made in Sheffield, England,Canoe Pattern 3blade Slipjoint Pocket Knife, I looked and researched it in many ways and NADDA, I don't care about what it's worth as much as what type of stainless it is. First, I'm hoping it to be 440C I'm not that familiar with pocket knives. But I could tell a well made knife. If it was a 420 Stainless, someone put alot of work making it, It resembles a little like my Camillus Silver Sword #836, although it's not as big, and the scales look like either some kind of horn or a fancy smooth plastic, I dunno, but it is a well made knife. The main blade look's a little like a Scandi with a Secondary Edge, or a Saber, Dunno, the Spey blade is smaller and same size with the English Blade but has a little bit of a suede warn cliff well the tip goes down slightly, If you have any info on Wilkinson Sword Pocket Knives, Please I would Sincerely Appriciate it, Thanx in advance, , ,

Very helpful video. I learned a variation of this from my grandpa (I hate to say it, but I think yours may be more helpful). But for my edc knives, I find that the "slide through, V-style" sharpener works well enough to produce an edge that I can shave my arm hair off with. Do you find your method a better option? I'm not opposed to buying the setup that you mention in this video. I just seems like the slide-through system works very well.

Say Heah Blackie, WoW I got my Rough Rider Moose Pattern Slipjoint Pocket Knives, It's not like the pictures of Nessmuks, his appears more like two clip points similar to the slender tooth pick styles, mine look's like a Trappers blase with the Clip and Spey, except the blades are opposite of eachother, instead of side by side like the Trapper, Like Moose Antlers, What can I expect from these knives as far as edge retention, Because they both came beautuful, really worth the money I paid for them, Their also on sale (10-2015) I paid $6.95 normally $12.95, But Boy do they look good, I Cann almost compare them to my Case Knives, but I heard the steel is cheap, I can't understand a Company making this nice of a knife and not temper them good, that's why I'm hoping you might throw some imput on the edge retentiin, Thanx in advance, , ,
