Too many robots make Case knives today. The quality has suffered greatly. Search here on youtube: "GEC Knives Factory Tour". ( Great Eastern Cutlery ) and see how an American made pocket knife is SUPPOSE to be made, and 100% hand-hafted just like they were a hundred years ago. There are over 200 steps involved, to make a typical GEC knife. Best in the world today, hands down.

You see how far the blue came up on the actual blade that's ruined, when they put the tang through the induction heater they need to prevent the heat from running up the blade and ruining the heat treat

These r case knives...they know more then u do it's a billion dollar company
@kevinfitz37213 жыл бұрын
@@w.e.s. they should but I'm pretty sure blue on the edge of a knife after temper or even after heat treat and before temper it should not be ground to hot to where there is blue coloration on and behind the edge its called burnt steel. All production companies struggle with this because its mass production and they need to get knives out quickly so instead of using water cooled grinding to grind after heat treat they use either belts with various abrasives or wheels with various abrasives which is fine pre heat treat but burns the steel at the edge a bit unless your very careful but I agree with you I don't know as much about heat treatment as them, which is why I was curious about seeing that
@georgegordonbrown95222 жыл бұрын
Heat treat doesn't come before or after the temper. Tempering is a part of the heat treatment. (heat, quench, temper)
@PatheticPeasant2 жыл бұрын
I agree, the blade is ruined half way up. No doubt about it that the blued areas are now softer. It may be a billion dollar company, but they sell cheap crap knives with cheap steel that's half ruined.

@@Rancherinaz it took me buying 6 Case knives, all that showed up with serious problems, before I bought my first Rough Ryder. I still only have 6 Case knives but I now have 15 Rough Ryder knives. I'll be the first to say, Rough Ryder QC is about as good as Case, however, all of my RR knives have showed up sharp enough to cut with, that didn't happen with any of the Case knives and the RR knives are all under $20.
