I have 2 pocket notebooks one for my work and one for recording things I'm grateful for. I know most of my colleagues have switched to apps on the PC like sticky note, outlook tasks etc but I still prefer writing my tasks and ideas down on paper. And I bring this pocket notebook to attend meetings and jot down notes. One of the main reasons for me to keep this habit is to practice writing using a pen or pencil. After leaving school, I hardly use pen to write anymore, leaving me awkward holding a pen. 😅

Hi! Thanks for sharing, I like your approach! I remember I used to write so much at school that skin on my middle finger (in the place that felt the most pressure while holding a pen and writing) became stiff and rough! And now it’s gone 😌

I like this idea. I have been doing something similar but instead of a notebook, I use Apple Notes. But then that makes me use my phone and there are too many distractions. I guess the right way is to be able to use my Apple Notes on my phone for this and have the willpower to not use any other apps on the phone. I am trying to make it so that anything that I need to check on my phone from time to time, has notifications enabled and then I need to stop looking at those apps unless there is a notification which is directly related to something I need to do with it - otherwise, I should not move beyond my lock screen where my notifications pop up. For to-do lists, I use Microsoft's To-Do and again, I am trying not to look at this all the time - only when my MS To-Do notifies me that a task needs to be done. If I do that, with any alerts for meetings or appointments from Outlook ONLY, then I do spend a lot less time on my devices and have a lot of spare time to read or write.

Thank you, that is a great approach I think! And congratulations on the willpower levels keeping you from getting distracted!

@@olgawithfreckles It’s a work in progress and getting better each day. I do love notebooks though. I’m using it to capture things that I want to pass on and reflect on in the future. If you’re doing thought experiments or streams of consciousness that are linked over time, then a notebook is the best way in my opinion. Because physically writing it means you capture what you think today and there is no deleting and changing- that’s pure stream of consciousness

Sorry but the music in the background freaks me out. It is as if there is fog clouding my mind and prohibiting me from thinking clearly.

I agree, I really wish the trend for background music would die out
