Watching your videos always makes me want to collaborate and share ideas with you lol! I have a very similar setup. I'm teaching virtual all year and a few weeks in I realized multiple screens worked much better than multiple devices. I rearranged my room so I could sit close to my Promethean board, extend my monitor displays, and put my Meet tab on there so I wasn't straining my eyes so much to see my students on my laptop. This helps because my laptop was constantly dropping wifi so now I don't lose my students nearly as much. I also like it because like you mentioned, I can keep tabs out of view that I don't need my students to see. I ALSO use my personal iPad to connect to the Meet and share my screen because I can pull up PDFs of their math book and screen write in Goodnotes. AND I discovered the best digital whiteboard isn't really a whiteboard but Seesaw! My students already use it to complete their assignments so when I use it to write on things I want them to see I'm also teaching them all the features of Seesaw at the same time. This is probably more useful for primary teachers though. I've used it as a replacement for Nearpod because most of my students don't have strong enough internet to be in a Google Meet and have a Nearpod open. 😩 I've seen a lot of teachers mention Wheel of Names but if anyone uses Class Dojo, you can use the random selector to do the same thing. I could write a whole blog about the reasons I love Dojo but this year I discovered you can replace the monster emoji with real pictures of your students! So for anyone not in primary who feels like their students might think "it's for babies" put their picture on there instead! I did it so I can see them every day because I've never gotten to meet many of my students in person. Thank you for these videos, Michelle! They always get me thinking about new ways I can improve my technology use!

Really interesting setup. I travel between classrooms so I have two laptops. I share just the Google Meet through the projector for my in-person kids and use my laptop with a split screen to share the tabs through Google Meet. If you're using Google Meet and only using the desktop to present, you don't need to mute and turn off video then join, just hit the "present" instead (next to the join button) and you can share your whole window and it gives an option to share audio. then when you change tabs, you don't need to reshare which tab you're sharing because it'll automatically show whatever is on your screen. I hope this helps you to streamline.

I'm still using one device (school laptop) with a second monitor and my IWB. My second screen is duplicated onto the IWB for my in-person learners. I drag anything I want to share onto my second screen and then share my second screen on the Zoom call so all students can see it. I keep anything that just I need to see (Zoom call, email, etc.) on my laptop screen. If I need my in-person students to see the students home, I can always drag the Zoom call to the second screen. Maybe this will help someone who only has one device but multiple monitors or an IWB. Thanks for all the great ideas about setup! :-)

Hello, I’ve been hybrid since September and I have all of my virtual and in person students logged in to google meet with me all day with frequent breaks of course. So I’m able to simply present my screen and my in person students also see it on the screen in the classroom. I would recommend sending KZbin links of videos in the chat because sometimes when you present tabs, it still glitches for various students depending on their internet, so if you put the video links in the chat, then they can view it with less glitches.

Yup! I do the same thing. I post a set of Google Slides for the lesson that have links. It saves time since the students don't have to open a separate set of slides and find the specific link they need.

Is there a way when I use 2 devices that on one device I’m presenting my screen to my students and on the other device I only see my students? The reason I’m asking is because when we start presenting the screen I only see a small group of my students instead of the whole class. And I noticed that sometimes when students know I’m not watching them they might get distracted with something at home 😉. I also use the Folder option on Google Chrome. I name them the class, then I save each of the pages for that class inside the folder. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rIC5apiCpJtmY7s

Thanks for sharing. I could follow what you were explaining the whole time. But, I have to be honest, this is my first thumbs down ever for your vids. I support technology at my school and I was thinking the WHOLE time, “Mrs. Xxxxx would never be able to follow this without actually seeing a projector, screen, cart, etc.” But thanks. I love all your content.

You are going way too fast! I have been teaching concurrently for the last two months. I use zoom and Securely. It is exhausting, but not too complicated. I would love to learn more and that is why I clicked on this, but I can’t follow.

You can always pause the video or go back and rewatch sections. Also, you can control the speed of KZbin videos so you can slow it down if needed!

I was just doing that, and taking notes. I didn’t mean to be negative! Thank you for all of your content! You are very inspirational! I’m just overwhelmed as are many of us teachers this past year!
