Punto is such a classic and under-rated design. Steering not very precise though on the standard Fiat ones at least

I have a 2009 Abarth Grande Punto Esseesse (so even rarer). I’ve had three (two Grande and an Evo). I sell them and end up with another a year or two later. My current one was a project and I’ve left it to sit for ages. I’m going to get it running again this year then hopefully a sympathetic restoration. They have less than brilliant steering but so much fun regardless.

My Turismo 595 had a blue spark box. Rolling road was 169bhp with 320nm. I have a cracking video of it pushing a McLaren 720s which is hilarious. The Mac's spoiler brake light fell out!

Love both prefer the punto❤ i have a bravo 1.4 tJet resto mode.. inside and out not a flShy car but eats them both for breakfast data and pics. On request love your show keep it on rolling

I've owned three Abarth Grande Puntos, the first a 2008 155bhp in Speed Red which wasn't bad, apart from the typical 1st gear movement indicating M32 gearbox wear. Then I bought a black 2008 Esseesse, which was fitted with a TD04 turbo and remapped to 260bhp by a previous owner. It went like stink, and I loved it! Sadly, the engine bay caught fire returning home one evening in May, so it had to written off. I now have a 2009 'standard' (albeit remapped) red one again, though for some reason, it has an Esseesse label in the door pillar. Plan is to gradually upgrade it to Esseesse spec. They're very likeable little cars.

I daily an abarth Grande Punto and I absolutely love it. its my second car, which I managed to pick up for 2k, first car being a Peugeot 107 so the jump felt huge. When I first got it the gearbox felt beautiful compared to my 107 but now after driving it for a few months I realise how much I'm not a fan, every time I shift it feels like it takes an eternity, even my 30 year old Honda del sols gearbox feels better. I'm not the biggest fan of the plastic trim on the side as its fading in colour and doesn't match my alloys as much as id want it to but its always been a fun car to drive and I have yet to see another, I believe there is only about 80 of them on the roads so its nice and unique. I'm yet to decide if I am going to remap it, so far all I've done so far is put in a cone air filter which admittedly makes the turbo sound very nice. My sunroof also just refuses to close half the time so that's always nice when it starts raining when I've got it open. 100% prefer the Grande Punto even over the Evo's as I prefer the front end, the rear is lacking a bit of aggression imo though.

You should have done a few head to head speed tests with them, 0-60, 30-50, 50-70, to see if there is much of a difference, the GP is bigger, & more isolated inside, which might make it feel slower? Maybe they swerved the 6-Speed because the extra gearbox length would make the Abarths already crap turning circle even smaller? What I find irritating with the 500`s, is the lack of seatbelts height adjustment, so the seatbelt always cuts into my neck! I dont get why they didn't fit them, my Uno`s have height adjustment on them! Someone should also bring out a dial to adjust the steering assistance on all of them (seeing as they had the ridiculous city button, you should be able to adjust it in the steering motor ECU to any weight you want?).

I owned an Abarth Grande Punto EsseEsse on a 09 plate - good chassis, very stable & once I binned the horrible factory suspension (just like all Puntos) for Bilstein & Eibach it handled great & was nice to drive every day. Build quality was poor, particularly the interior, and of course the M32 gearbox is total sh!te that Fiat should’ve been taken to task on from a legal perspective ala Ford’s wet belts. I drove an Abarth 500 and like all 500s it felt unstable round the bends - the platform is too small to deliver the confidence-inspiring handling of a larger platform such as the Punto, without major & expensive upgrades, albeit the Abarth version is the least bad.

The Abarth corners better, is faster, better gearbox, sounds glorious… you both choose Punto 😂👍 I like both shame the Punto sounds dull in comparison though. Great vid

​@@dusankocisevic6823 and the twin cam one absolutely flew back in the day. Sister has a 595 Abarth with some nice mods (EBC big brake kit OZ Racing rims, magnet morelli exhaust system etc) and although it has it's wee design faults I love it and in fairness it's been really reliable

For long distances ypu dont want the 500 due to the pogo like ride comfort on our crappy rosds. Longer wheelbase Punto would iron them out. You can on the video how much bopping up n down that bacl roafs causing to Ant and JP....that gets very tiring on a run. Need to get the Punto GT on with the old 8 valver
