Reuse and recycle! With the help of an old pair of jeans that couldn't be worn any more (and an old bum bag/fanny pack that had already been taken to pieces for parts), plus a small amount of material from my cabbage patch, I was able to improvise a pocket for ‪@Costuming_Drama‬ thanks to ‪@aperfecttouch‬ 's brilliant #pocketswap2021 ! And in return ‪@EngineeringKnits‬ sent me a beautiful pocket to wear and use!

Welp, I know what my next utilitarian project will be. A set of pockets I can wear at work on my fanny pack belt so that I don't HAVE to wear cargo pants to carry all the crap I "need". I'll be moving the thigh pocket from a dead pair of cargo pants up though rather than using the back pockets... I know, I really oughtta just wear a tool belt but I can't sit in the car with that. With this, I probably can! The finished product looks amazing, and I love the idea of the elastic loops, that's just jean-ius! My sewing bag is actually an old pair of jeans that I outgrew decades ago, hand-sewed the bottom shut just under the fly (because of course the bum ripped out too), adjusted the pockes so the back pockets are now inside pockets and hand stitched a heavy duty zipper into the waist... I have another pair I did like that but without the zipper that I put a strap on and used as a carry bag for stuff at the barn... I think it's currently upstairs filled with fabric stash bits or something. *edit: after reading the comments, I also need to make a gardening pocket, because my current setup involves bruises when jumping on shovels because of too much stuff banging around in the cargo pants thigh pocketses... have also scratched the hell out of phone screen with other stuff in its pocket...

I've watched this video a NUMBER of times and finally gotten around to cutting out and making my own recycled denim pocket for a friend of mine. The cutting is done, a few machined seams are done. The rest is all hand-sewing and embroidery, on-track to be done for Christmas 2022. Thank you SO MUCH for this video (and everyone else in pocketswap 2021. I know my comment is late to the party, but I am hoping that still getting feedback a year after the fact might be gratifying.

Beautiful! Maybe I can butcher a pair of men's jeans to transplant a pocket to some pair of mine ... To me this is pretty 70ies, the lining reminds me of gul-bla jeans ("elvis"), the gottohavejeans at one time, that used to have almost that lining, but most wanted the purple version, I wanted the blue one ... Ohhh, cat!

Ooh! I rescued and fostered a kitten that looked just like your little miss! She’d be about 12 or 13 now. Also, I’m definitely stealing this idea to make a nice utility pocket for my mum, who I’ve always had trouble making stuff for, because she’s very tomboyish, not at all into the girly or historical stuff that I’m into. But she does live gardening, and I can see a pocket like this coming in very handy. Or maybe a full apron belt (I’m thinking just the front of the waist, and about the length of the pockets), with the two pockets on either side? Ideas! I’ll pop it down for a next Christmas present. This Christmas was also somewhat inspired by you, in that it was your videos that made me think embroidery wasn’t too far outside of the realm of possibilities. So I embroidered on my new hussif, decided I loved it, and then decided to jump right on in and recreate a painting from my parents’ favourite artist in embroidery. It’s only my third time ever doing any embroidery (I did a little sampler hoop after the hussif), so I’m a little crazy perhaps, but it’s turning out pretty well.

I love the use of the old jeans and the pocket you've made is brilliant. I've been waiting for your making of video since Noelle showed the pocket when she opened it. I'm in the planning stages of making a dress from old jeans (inspired by Blueprint DIY who does heaps of restyling of thrifted clothes videos) and a pocket like this will be a wonderful addition to it.

Aw, damn! I wish I had found your video half a year ago, when I threw away the upper part of a worn-out jeans. I salvaged parts of the leg fabric to repair another pair of jeans with, but the upper part was still good - only rubbed through at the crotch. I could have made a pocket out of it! 😭
