did you put panes in between the legs of your trunkhose? I am actually working on a pair of trunkhose for myself. but i cant decide if i should have panes in between the legs.

It's odd to me that someone needs shown how to embroider. But, I think it's a dying art. I've embroidered before I started school. I always found it relaxing, and a unique way of decorating my home. I live in the Midwest of the States. It can be 110 degrees in the summer, or -30 degrees in the winter. Usually not long, but still uncomfortable. Thank you for the video. Hopefully more people get into gardening and sewing and embroidery. You make it all look very relaxing. 😊❤

A wearable mock up. Much better than wasting fabric on something you'll never wear.

That’s a felling stitch vs. a whip stitch. Sorry to be a nerd.

I put the bunches in a cloth bag and just kinda shake or beat the bag around a bit and the lavender all falls off the stem. Then I sift the lavender for dust and the brown particles works great this way.

When it comes to ironing velvet without the proper equipment I learned when I purchased a batch of bagged manufacturing ends that obviously in the jumble were now creased. I ended up steaming from the back and maneuvering the fabric face with swishes of the hand to more evenly return the nap but never using the iron face on the fabric face as I knew all that would be achieved would be flat nap. Through that experienced I soon learned that if I wanted to steam a pattern onto the face I would have used the iron face on the fabric face.

Thats a bummer to put in the time to make a great looking cloak all to give it to the customer. It looks great. The first think I sewed for my costume was a cloak.

They look very good. I should venture to the stage of wearing hose and make them instead of just wearing the outerwear to coverup. Also still on the quest to make a body form. The sewing was great tips and technique. As for motivations, my depression does get in the way and when the manic stage happens I do try to take it easy but those things are not always manageable with the meds to the degree the body demands. But I do temporarily move on to another aspect of the project or another project altogether just to break the concentration. cant wait to see the entire series.

Hi ! I am currently in a living history association in France, we're reenactinfg Varangian Merchants. I am looking for embrodery patterns and stitches in Scandinavia and Slavic areas, from the 9th to the 11th century. Still no luck :/ Does anyone here have an historical source ? Thank you !!

My first was Action Man about 60 years ago. My last was my badges on my uniform about 45 years ago. 4 years ago I wished I had a sewing kit as I ripped the arse out of my trousers in Spain. It was a flying visit so I didn't take spare. Lesson learned.

Fascinating! Thank you so much for sharing this! I honestly would never have found you if not for the Christmas gift thing you participated in a few years ago. So thank you for that as well. The stiches very much put me in mind of the Nålbinding/Needlebinding stictching used by the vikings for “knitwear”. Especially in the way they get more and more ‘complicated’. I checked the embroidery stitches on the Skjoldehamn garment, but the stitches there are nothing like these.

You can press velvet by placing one piece face up and one down so the fuzzy part doesn’t crush by the iron

Did 16th century boys and men have to tie tights to the inner part of a trunk hose or doublets with straps up to their thighs? Or did you tie the tights to your thighs? I am not from Western culture, so I am very curious about this.
@jasminv8653
@jasminv8653 Жыл бұрын
The tights worn here usually come up far enough to the waist so they can just be worn with a belt if needed, but another typical tying point was indeed the doublet (=jacket)! The jacket hem would have little holes for tying the hose (=leggings) waist to. Before that, they were two separate long socks, and were usually tied to the belt of the underwear, or a separate belt over the undershirt. Also sometimes a narrow garter belt under the knee.

Aw, damn! I wish I had found your video half a year ago, when I threw away the upper part of a worn-out jeans. I salvaged parts of the leg fabric to repair another pair of jeans with, but the upper part was still good - only rubbed through at the crotch. I could have made a pocket out of it! 😭
