It only took a decade… But I finally got my hands on the Rolex Milgauss Z-Blue 116400GV. I don’t usually follow the ups and downs or all the excitement revolving around Rolex discontinuations… but I believe this particular model deserves to be reborn. Rolex lacks spunk and/or interesting designs in their catalog. The Milgauss range brings some zest to the brand - particularly the Z-Blue shows you can have style as well as personality in your timepiece.

If you haven't seen the Milgauss Z-Blue: - in direct sunlight - with rain drops on the GV crystal You simply have not seen the Z-Blue. In short, in direct sunlight the edge lighting/glow effect of tge GV crystal, makes the Z-Blue the most beautiful watch ever - there is nothing like it.

What’s so different and crazy about the Milgaus? Why does everyone have the same talking points about this watch. It’s so generic. WOAH GREEN CRYSTAL that’s so crazy !!!!! How dare Rolex!!! It’s a nice watch don’t get me wrong but stop saying it’s something crazy when it’s not.

Haha. 🤣 I completely agree… I don’t think it’s a crazy watch… I think it’s a crazy watch for Rolex. Rolex makes very boring watches in general. This is a rare exception to their very boring catalog.

I’m not a Daytona fan… So I can’t push you in that direction. 25k is a great budget… but I’m in a similar situation - I’m not sure what my next big watch purchase should be. I haven’t been impressed with watches in that budget class recently. I like the Moser Streamliner… but haven’t run into a dial type I like. Vantablack would be cool… but I need dial furniture. So, i’m stuck lusting over watches double that budget or several fun watches at a much lower budget.

I doubt the green crystal will come back. It was too difficult for Rolex to make and besides Rolex needs to leave a classic formula for the archives otherwise people will get sick of it and take it for granted.

The Milgauss, for me, is made by the quirky seconds hand and the green crystal. As long as an iteration retains these, I would love it. That makes the tic tac kind of uninteresting 😆. I think the point of the green crystal is that Faraday made his own glass for experiments. If they do bring it back, maybe expanding on that somehow would be fun. Did I saw that price chart correct? That is insane!
