You know the falling rock signs along the highway when there's mountains or cliffs? "Beware of falling rock?" My dad had me convinced that Falling Rock was a Native American chief who was mad that we took their land, and he'd attack cars driving through his old land to try and take it back. If he ever got annoyed with us in the backseat, he'd threaten to pull over and let Falling Rock get us. That's like the definition of a dad thing to do

LOL my Grandpa lives out at a lake and he would always tell us about a man that lived out in the bush called "One armed Johnson" who would come get us if we misbehaved. It changed all the time, one arm, one eye, one leg.. we somehow always thought it was the same guy though. Too funny. One arm Johnson was also the main character in tons of his stories about catching huge fish, etc. We feared and respected him hahaha

here's my dad story. it's literally the most recent one. he was in the hospital dying of cancer 11 years ago. he was barely able to move he breathed in short slow breathes. I was in the room with him when he died he told me and my brother he loved us. I graduated high school last year and I gave my last ticket to him so he could come. I had it laminated and put it by his stone. and I told him I knew he was proud of me cuz he never got to graduate high school and neither did my mom cuz they had me... even though I couldn't visit him this father's day, he knows he's in my heart all the time, every day. and these dad stories made me laugh and also remind me of the few good stories I still remember from the times with my dad thank you Jenna and Julien for the dadcast

We used to go camping a lot when my sister and I were little. One year while on one of our annual trips I cut my leg open really bad. Instead of taking me to the nearest hospital - maybe 45 minutes away - to get stitches, with a beer in one hand and gauze in the other, my dad *duct tapes my leg shut*. I now have a large scar to forever remember that 90's dad decision.

My favorite story of my dad is one time we were going to have a Christmas party. Because we were gonna have tons of people over we needed to go out and buy some more silverware for this party. So we go to Walmart and find some really cheap flatware, and as we go to check out the cashier asks, "oh you guys having a Christmas party?" and instead of just saying yes, my dad says, " no, I just got tired of eating with my hands," completely dead serious. this cashier guy looked so confused, and u feel bad that he had to be subject to my dad's dry sense of humor

Here's my suggestion, I have two so check the reply, so you have 2 cups. One with people/restaurants and another with a word. You have to pick one out of each and call the person, and keep repeating that word or phrase you got from the other cup over and over again. If you can keep the person on the line for more than one minute (or however long you'd like to try for) you get a point. First to 10 points wins OR You could have the same 2 cups and you have to call the person and get them to say the word without saying it yourself in a certain amount of time. #2. You each get $20 ( or however much you want) and you go to the dollar store separately and buy as many gifts for the other person as you can. You must then give them all to the other person on the podcast and tell them why you got it for them. Or you can do another 2017 comments or bad movie descriptions bc I cry laughing at those Thank you! Sincerely, A fellow dink

OKAY here is my dad story. My mom and dad got divorced when I was really little, so I had two separate houses. When I was three, me and my dad lived in a small apartment (so small we shared a bed). One night, he heard me get up to go to the bathroom - now reminder, I am not there all the time because my parents are divorced so I lived with my mom too- and instantly hears a small plop.. he had left the toilet seat up in the bathroom and my small booty had fallen in. He told me all he could hear was a stern whisper at him and then some whimpering. He had to come fetch me out because as you could imagine I was pretty far in the toilet.

Dad story: I highkey feel so bad for the shit I've done as a child omgAround the ages of 5-9 I lived with my 2 full brothers and 1 full sister. We all lived with our dad. We'd sleep in his bed every night and he'd play Runescape then go to bed around 11. We would stay up all night and get up at the crack of dawn. I was the eldest so I deemed myself the leader. About once a week we would gather all the condiments from the fridge along with things like milk, flour, eggs, and soap. We'd essentially have a "food fight" where we'd douse the floor in soap so it'd be slippery and we'd then make a complete and absolute mess out of the kitchen and living room. We'd then go climb in our dad's bed after we cleaned ourselves off and go to sleep. We'd wake up around 5 am on the front porch. Our dad deadass got up for work and carried us to the front porch while we were sleeping and left us out there until we woke up. Once we did we'd find that he locked the door and we'd be stuck outside for a couple hours until he was done with cleaning the house. This man cleaned up a disaster every week and would never scold us for it just chase us around with a belt for half an hour lol. Not much he could really do as we didn't watch TV, we didn't have phones and technology; we just spent all day every day outside.

More dad story:One time when I as maybe 7; I asked if I cold make dinner. Because I was completely positive that I could do it on my own. I wanted to make spaghetti. So I got a pot. Put long ass spaghetti noodles into it and then went outside. I heard my dad screaming for me and when I went to see what he wanted he handed me the pot and told me to deal with it. The water evaporated and the noodles burnt and dried to the pot. It looked like a mini black explosion of worms. He made me sit out on the porch the rest of the evening picking out every piece with my fingers because we were too poor to just buy a new pot and it dueled as punishment. Needless to say, I was never allowed to make dinner again.

Anotha one: My dad would do work around the yard everyday and we'd just be left to entertain ourselves. We lived in like the middle of nowhere and had over two acres of land. Everyone of our neighbors had farm animals; horses, sheep, etc. Our yard had this big pond in it. The our of us decided to swim in the pond one day. (Side story: This pond froze one winter and we decided to go ice skating on it and we all fell through one time and it was like climbing through mud and algae to get out 0/10 experience) Well, when we got out of the pond we wondered if other animals could swim. We got a chicken and threw it out into the middle of the pond. It swam back. So we threw it out again and again and again until it eventually didn't swim back.[Oops]. I decided to go back into the house and found a huge ass leech on my knee. So I picked it off and put it on the kitchen floor where I sat with a huge knife and cut it up into teeny pieces leaving blood absolutely everywhere. Deadass, this leech was the size of my adult finger. My dad walked in and immediately started panicking thinking I stabbed myself. But when I told him it was the black worm he handed me paper towels and told me to clean it up and to wash the knife. [ We never told him about he chicken btw]

On a final heroic dad story: In 2006, our trailer caught on fire in the middle of the night while my dad was shaving & on he phone with my mom discussing court and such around 1-2am. There was a storm and lightening hit the area of our washer and dryer. We were al asleep scattered around the other end of the house. My dad sees it and screams, "My house is on fire!" My mom astonishing reply of, "Your ass is on fire?" He hung up on her and rushed through the fire to get us out. He pushed me and my sister out onto the front porch and melted plastic dripped onto my hair that later had to be cut out. He rushed through and shoved my brother out of the back door; a solid 4-5 foot drop as we didn't have a porch or steps there. And he jumped after. He hugged the three of us before realizing his fourth kid wasn't outside. He ran through the laundry area into dad's bedroom looking for him. Dad jumped up and broke the window to his bedroom with his fist and dragged my brother out by his leg.About five months later, we went to our grandparents camp by a river. We begged to go to the river and dad allowed us. We never had supervision because we were raised to be extremely free-spirited and independent. My sister ran back up and the three of us kicked off our shoes and were testing out different areas of the river, testing depths, textures of sand, etc. There was one point where we checked it and the river swept us away all holding hands. But I couldn't hold on and they swept on without me. I was able to grab onto a rock and pull myself out and I ran like hell to get my dad. Thorns from bushes hitting me in the face, rocks and sticks scraping up my feet as I sprinted. I ran up the hill crying and screaming inaudible shouts. My grandpa and dad jumped into the river trying to find them but it was over their heads and was pulling them down the shore as well. They were found 45 minutes later by two fisherman. The oldest one passed away on the spot and was pronounced dead half an hour later at a local hospital. The other was flown to a Women's and Children's hospital and passed away two days later and became an organ donor which saved the lives of four other people of all ages. I now wear a green "donate life" bracelet every single day and have done so for over ten years to commemorate their deaths. With that, RIP Tyler Robinson September 25, 1999-March 25, 2007. RIP Prestyn Robinson September 23, 2000-March 27, 2007.

Jayde your siblings DIED? How can you tell that story like nothing happened
@jayzza6617 жыл бұрын
Yknow, it was ten years ago. I grew up a lot and I came to terms with losing my best friends. I'd rather have the strength to tell the story along with all the hilarious moments that we shared up to the incident instead of dwelling on it and beating myself up for the rest of my life. I learned it wasn't healthy and was only making my mentality worse. They're still my best friends and nobody will ever replace them; not even my sister, they forever have a spot in my mind, heart, and soul that nobody else will ever be able to claim.I tell the story from a very calm and nostalgic place and I'd rather not have my memories of them & the incident to be like that scene from SpongeBob where his mind is falling apart and everything is on fire. lol.

my dad was diagnosed with an unknown cancer last week. i think what's hardest about this for me is trying to come to terms with our rocky relationship. he's always been relatively emotionally cold/absent and that's what i've focused on for years, but the dadcast really got me thinking about all the many good memories i have of him. i remember watching star trek the next generation reruns with him almost every night; and calling him at work when i got home from elementary school every day just to say hi; and how he would make it look like santa had actually come to our house every christmas; and how it sounded when he got home from work; and how he didn't really know how to cook so for years our main meal was kraft mac and cheese, baked beans, and hot dogs; and his helping me build a grave marker when my bird pete died; and so many other things. i needed this. thanks jenna and julien.

Ok, so, in the countryside in Norway where there are no churches you "shoot in Christmas", Instead of the church bells going of to "announce" Christmas eve. Me and my sister, at 3-4 years of age, were all dressed up for Christmas dinner. I ask my dad "Hey dad, why are they shooting?" And he and my uncle answer simultaneously "They're shooting Santa." AND I KID YOU NOT we cried for HOURS. Mom and my aunt yelled at them for a good 20 minutes. I think this is one of my first memories lol.

Jenna's story about her brother and the pork chop reminds me of the time my stepmom made brussel sprouts with our dinner and I couldn't stand them. She told me I couldn't go to my room until I finished them and left me at the table alone (her mistake) I opened the back door and threw them into the yard. A few months later its winter time and I'm playing in the snow and guess what I find under the snow. Some nasty ass half decomposed brussel sprouts. 😂😂

When I was 14, I started listening to Simple Plan, like an alternative rock, punk sad kid music type band. I remember playing one of their especially angsty songs in my room with the door shut. in between the instruments, I heard a very soft knock and my dad came in and asked me in the most patient and kind voice "mija, do you need to talk? are you ok?" and it was the sweetest most funny thing my dad did and I will always remember it

One time when I was like 1 and a half or 2 my dad and I went to the grocery store while my mom went across the street to another store to pick something else up. Now when I was a baby, I liked to steel things so, my dad picked up and paid for our food and left the store to meet my mom and when my mom saw us she started dying laughing. When my dad asked what was so funny she told him to look down at me in the stroller and when he did he noticed that i had took a whole bag of pears!

My dad is from Greece, so he has a pretty thick accent (this is relevant, lol, we'll get there). I grew up in a really small town with farms and all that other rural shit, so we would walk to the library on the weekends and stop at the farm and look at the cows. I was probably about 5 or 6 and I asked my dad why some of the cows had horns and the others didn't. He explained to me that the male cow has horns and is called a bull, but he said it like "bOOll," like rhymes with ghoul. So later on I proudly told my mom that the male cow has horns and is called a BOOLL. My mom's from the US - btw - nothing but a Boston accent and she goes "oh boy, who taught you that?!" I told her dad did..."she said of course he did, it's pronounced bull, maybe don't take English lessons from dad." Gotta love dads & foreigners :)

I was watching your newest podcast while folding some laundry & once it ended, this podcast auto played directly after. I found it comforting. My father passed away Feb. 8th after a year long battle with lung cancer. It's...hard to witness something like that. Well, needless to say it hasn't been easy. I just found this podcast incredibly comforting. Happy memories came flooding back as I was listening to your dad stories. I probably cracked up several times 😂 I just wanted to take a few minutes to thank you guys for lifting my mood! 😊

This happened to my brother not me but it's so funny So when my brother was first being potty trained he wanted to do everything with my dad. My parents were getting ready for a party and my dad had to go to the bathroom. The door was open because my mom was blow drying her hair. My brother walks in and sees my dad peeing and he was like "hey I want to pee with dad!" So he bent down i front of the toilet to pull his pants down, but my dad was MID-PEE. He couldn't stop and my brother was already too far so my dad peed on my brothers head. All my brother could say was "hey why did you pee on me?" And there was pee all over his head. Long story short, they were late to the party.

These dad stories were great😂 one time when I was a baby my mom was sick and I started crying in the middle of the night so my dad was going to calm me down with a song. An important detail is that I was born on July 4th. So for some reason the only song my dad could thing of was the Star Spangled Banner and that's what he sang to me to put me to sleep. That's my favorite dad story😅

When I was a kid my parents used to take my brother and I to the beach almost every weekend during the summer, and we would always pass a Dairy Queen on they way and beg our parents to get ice cream. My dad somehow convinced us (or at least me) that Dairy Queen was undergoing renovations and that all of the cars in the parking lot belonged to the construction workers. This lasted for a long enough amount of time that my dad still jokes about it to this day. And now, over 10 years later I have a new Dairy Queen being built right across from where I work, and you better believe I'm excited to go.

Growing up, my family and I went to Disney like every month (we had annual passes) and they have this tea cup ride where you sit in a gigantic tea cup and there's a sort of turn table in the middle that you turn & it controls the cup so my brother and I would force our dad to go on with us every time and he has dad strength (he's a mechanic) so he would make it go as fast as he possibly could and my brother and I would laugh like crazy. My dad is the best. He works his ass off for his family everyday and I love him so much ❤️❤️

One year for Easter, when I was really little. I had gotten up in the morning stoked that the easter bunny came and that I had to go downstairs and find my easter basket. But when i opened my door, there was a trail of little brown lumpy things going down the stairs. My dad came over to the steps and i was like "dad what is this" and he was like "oh gross! the easter bunny must have pooped on the steps!" and i was like EW WE HAVE TO CLEAN IT UP THATS GROSS and my dad said "ok i'll take care of it" and he fuckin PICKED UP A HANDFUL AND POPPED IT IN HIS MOUTH AND ATE IT. I WAS MORTIFIED. I SCREAMED and he started cracking up laughing. because he pranked me. and he put chocolate covered raisins on the steps to make it look like bunny poop.

it's wild to me that you guys remember any of these stories from your childhoods. I am young but I can't even remember anything from elementary school and only vague parts of middle school, and definitely not anything before schooling. but this cast was so cute, it's so great to hear stories from you guys and other viewers.
