Hey my faves! So the thing with amazon is most things on amazon aren’t actually sold by amazon, they’re sold by third party sellers. Even a lot of prime items are sold by third party sellers and are just sent out of fulfillment centers, but aren’t actually sold by amazon. I just looked up the cooktop and the affiliate link from Babish’s site says it’s shipped and sold by A-Mega Store (which is why they’re not prime eligible, they probably ship their own stuff so they can switch items easier). Always check and see if things are “sold by” amazon or if they’re just “fulfilled by” amazon when they are prime though. I used to be an amazon product reviewer when that was still a thing so I know way too much about how that website works. Oh and while the cooktop isn’t sold by amazon it is still covered by their buyer protection.

I used to work at Amazon as a picker-someone who goes and picks the items from the various pallets and bins in which they are stored to send them to the packing department- and from experience I can tell you that likely what happened is that all of the cosmo cooktops were likely mislabeled at some point before being placed on the floor for picking. When picking, you are taught to skim through the descriptions so if one item is labeled as something completely different, you’d notice, but if it were something relatively similar, you might not. This is likely also true of the department that labels the products with their ASINs (barcodes used by amazon employees in every step of the handling and shipping process to ensure that you’re getting everything you should be getting in your order). So it was probably just someone who saw that those were induction cooktops, but not that they were the wrong brand, and it just continued to happen over and over because speed is valued almost as highly as quality in their warehouses and both are likely to put someone on probation if not up to par.

That’s exactly how it works. If it’s not “fulfilled by Amazon”, it’s basically ebay without the auctions. Amazon is also just a platform for a business to list items. He got scammed by the seller, not Amazon, but Amazon definitely needs to know. Julien, boy, "de nada" as in "you're welcome" in portuguese translates literaly to "of nothing" for a reason: in portuguese we say "obrigado" as thank you, which translates literally as "I'm obliged" as in "I'm obliged to return the favor." And in return we respond "de nada (of nothing)", as in: "you're obliged of nothing"; "you don't have to return the favor"; "you're not obliged"; "you're fine, my dude".

Exactly, thank you. If it's neither "sold by Amazon" nor "sold by [third party seller] and fulfilled by Amazon," then it didn't come from an Amazon warehouse at all. At that point it's no different from buying on eBay. I would never ever recommend buying anything from Amazon that is not at minimum "fulfilled by Amazon."

I work in an amazon facility. To give you a little insight on what normally goes on in the building I’ll describe what we do. We get the items, scan them, put them in a pod, then when someone orders the item we pick it from the pod and pack and ship it. We don’t control what goes in the pods, what comes in our building or what/who orders the item. A person in pick doesn’t see the label going on the box. They don’t even see the box. They just put the item the computer tells us to pick in the tote to go down to pack. We just do what the computer tells us. We don’t control any thing

I just realized, the reason it wasn’t amazon prime might’ve been because they didn’t want amazon to fulfill the order. Pretty sure amazon warehouses and fulfills orders that have the prime label. So, if they did fulfill it through amazon, it wouldn’t have been possible for them to so easily send you the wrong product. By extension, this could indicate they intentionally sent you the wrong product. This is especially true if they’re a well known company/seller or use amazon to fulfill other orders. Edit: just looked up both on amazon, induxpert does say it’s shipped from and sold by a third party. Whereas cosmo is fulfilled by amazon. You said the cooker and your other item came in one package...? How exactly does a third party item get mixed with an item from amazon? I thought you couldn’t even ship things together like that.
