You know, for some time I have been trying to define the approach of Jordan Peterson's discussions on biblical stories which at first appear close to truth but are actually anti-christian doctrine. This discussion on happy lies pretty much sums up Peterson's thinking. He is strongly focused on Jungian psychology to explain it all (even though it is often barely coherent), but in its essence, it is just another example of 'happy lies.' Thanks for a great discussion. My own journey came out of the new thought deception including abominations like the Course in Miracles.

@@yllatusmuna New thought is the law of attraction type thinking. It is the Wayne Dyer mantra that says you are what you think. For me it was an introduction to the practice of new age; the 'science' behind it seemed to make sense. Think positive thoughts and you will draw positive energy to you. Think negative and you draw negative energy. I was not saved at that time and I wanted nothing to do with God and the law of attraction allowed me to think I was being 'spiritual' without God. New thought is about manifesting an abundant life by putting out positive energy and thereby drawing positive energy back to you. Which, BTW, I would like to ask practitioners how that is working for them in today's world. New age goes deeper. It is a natural progression to move from the beginner stage of law of attraction to using tarot, crystals, meditation, channelling, psychics, etc. New age is that practice. God is not in this. Deu 18:10-12 “There shall not be found among you anyone who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, one who uses divination, one who practices soothsaying or one who interprets omens or a sorcerer, 11 or one who is an enchanter or a medium or a spiritist or one who inquires of the dead. 12 “For whoever does these things is an abomination to Yahweh; and because of these abominations Yahweh your God will dispossess them from before you.

Every thought and example in todays's episode sound exactly like why Lucifer got kicked out of heaven. This new thought ideology quite simply is just an attempt to create a false equation between God's creations with God himself. I know God exists and I'm in no way better than my fellow men, who are in no way even as good as the angels, who were also created by the ultimate being that exists. This is why humility for us is so important for us! Humility is the secret weapon against new thought.

I came across your question while I was looking through the comments below the video, and I wanted to try to offer an answer. Jesus was both fully God and fully man. Because he was both man and God, he is the only human ever to have lived a perfect, sinless life: "For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but One who has been tempted in all things just as we are, *yet without sin*." Hebrews 4:15. Jesus had to be a sinless offering on the cross to become the sacrifice for our sins, and it is Jesus' *righteousness* that Christians are to strive to copy in every part of their lives. As Scripture says, "For you have been called for this purpose, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you would follow in His steps, He who committed no sin, nor was any deceit found in His mouth; and while being abusively insulted, He did not insult in return; while suffering, He did not threaten, but kept entrusting Himself to Him who judges righteously; and He Himself brought our sins in His body up on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live for righteousness; by His wounds you were healed. For you were continually straying like sheep, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Guardian of your souls." - 1 Peter 2: 21-25 But, Christians do not become "divine" as this the false teaching, "New Thought," would argue. God is divine, we are not. True divinity implies perfection, but the human heart terribly, horribly corrupt. Jesus said, "That which comes out of the person, that is what defiles the person. For from within, out of the hearts of people, come the evil thoughts, acts of sexual immorality, thefts, murders, acts of adultery, deeds of greed, wickedness, deceit, indecent behavior, envy, slander, pride, and foolishness. All these evil things come from within and defile the person.” - Mark 7:21-23 Our sinful nature is the reason that Christ needed to die on the cross for us, to take the punishment that we rightfully deserve. When we accept Jesus as Savior, and turn from our sins to follow him, we can know that the penalty for our sins has already been paid. But, as long as we live on this earth, our sinful nature continues to exist inside us, and there is a constant battle between our new saved nature and our sinful nature. During our walk with Christ, we will often fail to live up to god's standards. We will still sin. We will struggle and stumble and fall. The Apostle Paul said it this way: "I find then the principle that evil is present in me, the one who wants to do good. For I joyfully agree with the law of God in the inner person, but I see a different law in the parts of my body waging war against the law of my mind, and making me a prisoner of the law of sin, the law which is in my body’s parts. Wretched man that I am! Who will set me free from the body of this death? Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!" Romans 7:21-25 The Christian's life is a constant process of sanctification - trying with all that we have to become like Jesus in *righteousness,* trying to honor God with every word, every deed, and every thought. Scripture says, "...consider yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus. Therefore sin is not to reign in your mortal body so that you obey its lusts, and do not go on presenting the parts of your body to sin as instruments of unrighteousness; but present yourselves to God as those who are alive from the dead, and our body’s parts as instruments of righteousness for God." - Romans 6:11-13 But even as we strive to do that - to defeat sin in our lives - we have to recognize that, while we can grow and change with God's help over time on this earth, we can never become truly righteous by ourselves - NEVER. We always need God's grace through Jesus - that is our only hope for salvation: "But now having been freed from sin and enslaved to God, you derive your benefit, resulting in sanctification, and the outcome, eternal life. For the wages of sin is death, but the gracious gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord." -Romans 6:22-23 That is why New Thought is dangerous. It tries to teach, ultimately, that we don't need a Savior because human nature is good already, and we can be our own gods. This is the opposite of the Gospel and a very dangerous doctrine.

No Frank baby girls are born fully empathetic and would care naturally, it is society that abuses and corrupts, and Paul tells us the same in Romans 2:14 of inherent goodness.
@LaughtersMelody8 күн бұрын
Respectfully, being caring and being empathetic are wonderful things, but they will not save anyone, even baby girls. Baby girls are sinners just like baby boys because we are all descended from Adam and Eve. We have all inherited sin, and the we also make our own choices to sin. The point Frank made about children not having to be taught to sin applies to girls as much as boys. When I was a little girl, no one had to teach me to lie. I did that on my own. I was never abused and had a safe childhood. I have a loving and caring, Godly mother who I am incredibly thankful for. But I had to be taught not to lie because it is against God's law. I did not know that instinctively. And even if I had, and even if I had never lied once, I have broken many of God's other commands, and I'm still guilty before God. Society did not do that to me. I have made my own choices and I'm lost without Christ's death on the cross. The verse you're referring to is talking about Gentiles who who did not have the Ten Commandments to follow as the Jewish people did. They could not be expected to follow a law they did not know. But, Paul points out that some of them do try to follow God's laws without knowing them. They already recognize that those laws - such as not lying - are good. Paul goes on to say that, "in that they show the work of the Law written in their hearts, their conscience testifying and their thoughts alternately accusing or else defending them, on the day when, according to my gospel, God will judge the secrets of mankind through Christ Jesus." Romans 2:15. But, notice that Paul does not say that these people are without sin because, as Paul says in that same letter, "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." -Romans 3:23. Sinners can still be caring and empathetic. But caring and empathy by themselves will not save either girls or boys. Only accepting Jesus's death on the cross as a penalty for our sins and trusting in Him for salvation can do that.

Do you believe that people (babies) are born innocent and then turn to sin? Total depravity teaches that God made you wicked. That is he made everyone wicked at birth (due to Adam). The scriptures and Ante-Nicene writers were very clear that people were born innocent but turned to sin. Not born wicked. It seems the new thought is somewhat of pendulum swing against a different Gnostic sect of thought called Calvinism. Yes... Calvinism has clear roots in manichean Gnostic thought via Augustine.

Another thought is that system like LDS believe that the fall in the garden was good. It was needed for humans to become gods. LDS is connected to freemasonry and therfore Gnostic thought as well.

Sounds like a lot of wordiness to baffle one with BS!!! This New thought crap is the worlds way accepting the ENEMIES ways to water down the Word of God!!! This thought process is the beginning of the journey to the wide road to destruction that many will go through!

@yllatusmuna New thought is the law of attraction type thinking. It is the Wayne Dyer mantra that says you are what you think. For me it was an introduction to the practice of new age; the 'science' behind it seemed to make sense. At that time, I wanted nothing to do with God and the law of attraction allowed me to 'be spiritual' without God, or so I thought. Either way, God is not in this. Read Deut. 18 verses 10-12.
