We’re delighted to welcome Dhanesvara Prabhu as our guest on tonight’s podcast.
A disciple of A.C Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada, he has been around the Hare Krishna movement for over 50 years!
He first met Prabhupada through his books in 1972 and joined the temple in 1973.
A seasoned traveller and bramacari, Dhanesvara has preached in Europe, Russia and India over many years.
In 2019 he published ‘Divine or Demoniac - Spiritual Movements and the Enemies Within’.
His book has become one of the most controversial publications in the Hare Krishna movement and is currently banned in all ISKCON temples and centres around the world. Despite this, it’s been a big hit with devotees!
Concerned about large scale deviations in ISKCON over the last 45 years, Dhanesvara talks about how demoniac forces have influenced the movement under the leadership of the GBC.
Both in his book and in this interview with Narada Prabhu, he leaves no stone unturned!
Dhanesvara also shares his thoughts about the need to ‘re-start’ Srila Prabhupada’s movement all over again - encouraging devotees to be independently motivated to chant and preach in their communities.

Hare Krishna! This is the first time I've ever watched this Podcast, it just popped up on my YT screen, and I've always thought Dhanesvara Prabhu is a very nice devotee. In a letter dated September 2, 1970 to Hansadutta, Srila Prabhupada says, "It is a fact however that the great sinister movement is within our Society." Such a pseudo-Vaishnava associates with money and women and is jealous of successful Vaishnavas. Although passing for a Vaishnava, his only business is earning money in the dress of a Vaishnava".

Even in chaitanya charitamrita srila prabhupad said that there are demons in this society, they have tilak and they are chanting, but they are just trying to destroy the movement from inside. May be after world War 3 all demons will be dead and the third generation of pure devotees will take over isckon and then for 10,000 years ISKCON will flourish in golden period

That is fantastic news! 👏 Really great to have Dhanesvara Das on this show, because what he has to say is really profound. He has been researching this vital topic for years. It will explain to a huge degree just why a lot of the very peculiar things have occurred in ISKCON over and above the individual instances of phenomena. To practise spiritual life, one has to have some conception of how the world works and why. Well done to Narada dasa for having him on the Hare Krsna Project! :) If I may make so bold as to put forward a suggestion... Please really try and listen to this chap when interviewing him, even if you doesn't understand fully, or find it hard to accept, etc... (that may well happen!!) It will not matter to many if you even you think you will look a fool by asking odd questions, as long as you do your best to get a handle on it. A famous example being Arjuna asking many questions to Krsna before finally accepting to fight. It is a very, very important subject, because it is, in a way about fighting - but doing it effectively against an enemy that has been very little understood.

Dandavat Pranaam Jaya Srila Prabhupada I got the book. I read it. I also read Spiritual Economics written by Dhanesvara Prabhu. Both the books are very inspiring for those who interested in following Srila Prabhupada and get his mercy. Thank You for this podcast. Institutional religions cannot retain purity for long. Institutions will be infiltrated by power hungry people and hijacked sooner or later. We need to follow pure sadhus wherever they are and not get stuck with or mesmerized by Institutions. Thank you so much. It gives us hope for cooperation if we can establish at least solidarity between the banned devotees. You would be amazed to learn what happened in New Mayapur. I feel like writing a book about what I witnessed there for the last 14 years.Visitors think it is a wonderful place where Srila Prabhupada came and installed Sri Sri Krna Balaram in 1976....it is for sure but they have no idea of offenses, harassement committed there and even suicides. Citradevi dd, after many years of seva was suffering of Parkinson decease committed suicide on the stake (2010) after being threatened to be sent away because "she is old, she is sick, she is slow, she cannot do her seva properly, she doesn't speak good French, she will feel better in Spain..."....these are the words of the TP.....well known to be of very low character not even following Iskcon Laws forbidding him to be a president. Sounds like an old Indian cow giving no more milk and sent in the street...... Citradevi vowed to leave her body in New Mayapur. She did. Many devotees were banned or left the community at that time. So much to say...Obvious infiltration of Kali bringing division amongst devotees through his agents. Kishori dd (ACBSP) was insulted, banned, she is 81, she was banned for years, she is now forbidden to share her wonderful memories. Because I took her side and protected her I was also banned up to nowadays. In the mean time we saved Shantipur, a 15 hectars property across the road that Gaudamandala das the TP wanted to give away to a terrorist group (expecting to get 2000 € from the sale) which wanted to make a BOOT CAMP right in front of New Mayapur, a 'Vaikuntha Place'....it has 17 houses, a 50 rooms guest house, a 200 seats theater, a 3000 m2 factory that Srila Prabhupada visited in 1976 at the time it was Spiritual Sky factory. He was very happy to see devotees working and said: "we should keep that place in order to provide jobs for the devotees so they don't have to work outside"......Clear instruction for economic self sufficiency. Banned devotees are welcome to build again the vaisnava village that was in the 80's (with many British devotees). Books like that need to be written as it details how the world really works behind the facade of 'everything is more-or-less okay'. To throw out an elderly lady after has given her life to Prabhupada and the movement is beyond sick, but it is a recurring theme among the infiltrated institution. Do you think you will be able to write the book? I visited New Mayapur in central France as part of a congregational trip from London's Soho Street back in 1999, where a very cultured Indian couple, Priyavrata dasa and his wife, Radharani devi dasi brought us over. They said that the Temple had gone through hard times in the 80s after the zonal-acharya era, and even then were unpopular with the locals, but things were getting better and were about 70 -80% self-sufficient then. I remember eating a massive raw tomato that was delicious there! They had a lot of guest houses to the left of the main building as you come out of it, and we saw Prabhupada's private room which led into his private bathroom. Back to the presentation, and the only way to get a handle on what happened to ISKCON is to see the wider picture of secular life and see that it is controlled, and then how it is so, but a global cult which has spread poison into all areas of society. In my opinion, Srila Prabhupada did not focus so hard on that - not more than 'Yes, this is going on', as he was giving his sadhu-sanga to everyone on the topic of our eternal relation to Krsna. He was, however, expert in dealing with worldly affairs...

Thank you for asking this question! It is my intention to do a podcast if not an interview on this exact subject. The short answer is to avoid an institutional arrangement with a command-control hierarchy, as is typical of Iskcon and most for-profit corporations, governments, etc. Srila Prabhupada did not want that for Iskcon, but the GBC started doing so almost as soon as they GBC body was formed. I commented on this in the interview. Further, as Srila Prabhupada has said - the power is with the people. If the devotees have the freedom to control their temples, as it should be since they support them, then they can remove wayward TPs, and other ifiltrators who are making trouble.

I read your book Dhanesvara Prabhu..really a fabulous book to understand what is going on through the ages. My feeling is though, regarding starting a new movement, is anything more than small NamaHatta communities in this age of quarrel is vulnerable to the influence of kali and infiltration. As long as people are sincere and find a way to engage in devotional service and distribute Srila Prabhupada's original books and share Prasada, Krsna Consciousness will be spread with humble sincerity, which will be so powerful. People are very diverse and have many ways of understanding according to their conditioning by the gunas. Therefore there will always be different ways of seeing and understanding, so there should always be choice. It is Iskcon that attempts (though not successfully) to make everyone conform to a single understanding.

Thank you for asking this question. It is not a fact that I am interested in taking a position as a guru. Had I wanted to do so I could have and would have done so long ago. I am 75 years old, and I am not interested in having followers swooning over me. However, where do sincere followers of Srila Prabhupada go when they desire to be connected to the parampara? The GBC have perverted this personal affair between guru and disciple by forcefully entering it as a third party, acting as the gate-keepers to Vaikuntha, in exactly the same way that the Roman church was established. So they have become an apasamradaya. Many go to the Ritvik camp as a default, but post-humous diksa is not within Vaishnava siddhanta. So there is a need to correct this situation. I'd rather someone else do this but where are they? I shall be speaking more about this in the future. If you are interested please have a look at my KZbin channel now and again.

With all respect, but a couple of things sound too simplistic to me. To say substance is everything and form is nothing, is very black and white and even wrong. We need some form so that the substance can thrive. Like a school. When there are no guidelines, no hierarchy, the students are lost within days. We need a healthy balance of substance and form, for sure! But to say, substance is everything and form is nothing, and now in ISKCON everything is the opposite, i.e. everything is form and there is no substance, really? For me that is way over the top.

Listen again without prejudice please. I am speaking about form indicating spiritual advancement, and I give several examples of that. As you indicate, form should ideally serve substance, and in an honest culture it does. However this is Kali-yuga and form is too often used for cheating. Think of the examples in our shastra of the many: Kali himself disguised as a king; Putana witch changed her form to beguile the other ladies; Taksaka took the form of a brahmana to get close to Pariksit to bite him, for a few. In terms of the Iskcon society, form - be it sannyasa, GBC, TP, and even the title of Guru, do NOT unfortunately indicate a spiritually advanced personality. Phalena Parichiyate - judge by the result. Unless you are my godbrother it would have been better for you to put your comments in the form of a submissive question. Please do try to act in terms of proper Vaishnava culture and not arrogant Western culture. As your senior it is my duty to offer that for your benefit.

Start? Srila Prabhupada established Vaishnava siddhanta and practices, not Hinduism, nor did he want his temples to become indistinguishable from Hindu temples. But the sad history of the infiltration of Iskcon has led to this. You can help to set things aright.
