Kefir is a powerful probiotic food that has more than 50 good bacteria and good yeasts. More and more studies are coming out showing the power of my favorite cultured food. I've been consuming kefir daily since 2001 and I have witnessed firsthand these effects: lower blood pressure, lower cholesterol, and so much more. Check out the new studies that show kefir can protect your heart.

I absolutely LOVE raw milk kefir! I crave it and I truly believe the craving comes from my body needing it so desperately. It’s like being in the dry, hot desert and finally coming to an oasis with water, shade and rest. My body is saying “YES!”.

For 3 weeks I’ve been eating sauerkraut, cultured cauliflower and kefir. I love my homemade sauerkraut. My glucose numbers are way down and I don’t get the spikes that I was getting a month ago. I still watch carbs but the microbiome truly does affect glucose levels. I’m 73 and looking forward to a long healthy life.

Aloha Donna, I’ve been making 2 day kefir with grains, organic half & half, & 2 spoons full of L Reuteri Yogurt. Adding the L Reuteri Yogurt really makes my kefir thick. My kefir is almost as thick as my yogurt. I have no way of testing the L Reuteri content in my kefir, but wanted to pass the idea along, & hope maybe you’ d try it, & maybe comment your results. Thank You

Learning much with your Podcasts on my daily hour's walk. Thanks. I've just started making Kefir, first batch later this morning. Question: I eat 'Keto', so need very low sugar. Am I able to make Kombucha with your Kombucha Package that will be low or no sugar, and how do I know if it's low sugar? I assume that I could purchase a 'Refractor' I think it's called to test for sugar. Also, how will I know my new Kefir has very little sugar? Thank you so much. Steve in New Smyrna Beach, Florida

Just ordered you live milk kefir grains. Mine were neglected due to me needing to travel for work... but I now have a local job so I'm starting with fresh grains I can actually take care of. The old ones I'll give to my chickens (one of which needed antibiotics recently)

I would start slowly if you're new 1/4-1/2 cup and gradually increase to 1-2 cups. I usually have about 2 cups a day. www.culturedfoodlife.com/how-many-cultured-foods-do-i-eat-in-a-day/

Hi Donna! I ordered the l. reuteri probiotic from your site for my yogurt and it's great! I'm wondering is it ok to have that yogurt and kefir at the same time? or do the probiotics compete with each other and it's better to space them out?

@@ricochet243I did not try however L. Reuteri is in Lifeway store bought yogurt. I’ve been watching Dr Debbie Ozment & she has recently been making kefir from the Lifeway plain yogurt - no grains. Bought some at Walmart & the kefir is very good.

According to the latest research, fibers is like food for microbiome while fermented foods make a bigger diversity. So lots of fibers and fermented food is extremely good

Is there anything you can compare the taste to. I just started, I received the grains, have fed them for 3 days. It looked exactly like it should, it was very quick to ferment, only 13 hours. I decided to have a taste after being in the fridge for a couple of hours and I was really surprised how awful it tasted. It wasn't sour tasting, just weird. I have nothing to compare it to. I make my own yogurt, sourkrout, and other items. No problem with any of the flavours, I like them. Is it that different? Any suggestions or comments?

Hi Sonia. You can’t make kefir grains. You buy them or get them from someone. Donna sells some on her site. They come alive, well packaged and are ready to use.

I’m just recently watching these kefir related videos of yours and I’m beginning to start this journey of making and consuming kefir. However I want to know from you Donna, would consuming kefir cause any adverse effects for my husband and adult son who both take high BP medications and my husband who also takes statins for cholesterol. Should they talk to their family physicians if they begin to take kefir once I start making it? You probably might not have an idea that our public health up north of you is broken and terrible. So doctors just tend to stay within the prescribed parameters and don’t really give us the best advice as they need to prescribe the big pharma medications. That’s the system here. So please tell me if they need to get medical advice if they start consuming kefir. Thanks for the suggestions.
