I am 30 years wfpb and just got my blood work done & thanks to these videos I got my homocysteine levels checked and they did come back elevated. Vit D & iron was a little low also so I am taking more vit b-12. I think I'm going to just start taking 1000 mcg/day as I am 59 anyway. Also taking a 1 gram of creatine/day. Thanks for these videos as they may have saved me from a medical situation

While vegetarians are more susceptible to anemia it's actually healthier to have a low normal iron level. A blood test for ferritin is usually sufficient to show if you are in lab’s reference range.

Thanks for this Dr Greger. After a stroke in January, I came home and returned to the vegan lifestyle I had strayed from over a period of years, and have spent the months since then reading/watching/practicing as much science-backed preventive medicine as I can. My dr doesn't believe atherosclerosis can actually be reversed and I am hoping to prove her wrong.

If you follow the diet strictly, I believe you can proof to your doctor. By the way, what is your disease? I am male nearly 55 old, I got a stent in February 2021 and after one week I stopped all medication and I replaced them with wfpb until today, so far I am feeling good.

@@SherryEllesson how long time it took to reverse your stroke? You did it following wfpb along with medication or without medication? Thanks 🙏

@@gabriel65304 You don't "reverse" a stroke; but I will say that within 2 weeks I had eased off the blood thinners, never did take the statins, and only occasionally took the low-dose aspirins. The only thing I take is Vit B12.

I believe in a plant-based whole food diet... not pills... will eat shellfish for b12... unless a vegan-friendly source is found outside a factory.

Now now, let's not be drastic. There's no sense in wasting perfectly good Nitrous oxide... Just supplement a little extra B12 and huff & giggle to your heart's desire.

So, now we have to add creatine, hmm. Let's eat some fish.
@terryjackson9395
@terryjackson9395 4 жыл бұрын
Exactly. And with fish you get all the extra goodies like PCBs, microplastics, dioxins, pesticides and mercury. It would be very expensive to supplement all of that individually.

@@terryjackson9395 No body can quantify the real health damage. It is very naive to believe that you can replace animal foods with supplements. In the long-run is's an illusion.

@@m.fender2989 Nonsense. A large % of earth's human population is vegan or vegetarian for decades and/or their entire life and most meta-studies show vegetarians live on average 6+ years longer than non-vegetarians and there are NO studies showing the opposite. The reason humans produce/convert their own creatine, DHA, Taurine, Vitamin D, CoQ10, Glutamine, etc and Do not produce their own potassium, Vitamin C, etc is because we evolved eating mostly certain things while going long periods without other certain things. B12 comes from bugs we stopped eating bugs in Western countries.

@@terryjackson9395 You use the idea of evolution as if it was a fact. It's just a dead theory with no evidence at all of change of kind! None!!! Every theory should have a limited life span, if it's not proven within say ten years, flush it down the toilet. DNA the book of life could not evolve from one letter to two than three. To then make the most amazing book without intelligence! I'll just eat the fish!
@terryjackson9395
@terryjackson9395 4 жыл бұрын
@@1960ARC Your theories of evolution have nothing to do with the fact that our bodies are adapted, or made, to live long lives without animal flesh, and not the other way around. But okay, I'll play along: 1) please let me know what YOUR theory is as to how living beings got where they are, and please let me know the YT channel where you leaned all of this science. 2) Please take note that your theory should also be PROVEN within 10 years of it's origination, or its flushed down the toilet. 3) Since you ignored the crux of my comment, please explain why the aliens (or whatever your theory is) would create our bodies to self-generate creatine, DHA, Taurine, Vitamin D, CoQ10, Glutamine, (and every other necessary nutrient derived from eating animals except B12 - which also doesn't come from eating animals) while giving us NO ability to produce necessary nutrients potassium, Vitamin C, fiber, polyphenols, magnesium, etc . Why is it that we are made to live healthy for even 100 years eating NO meat, BUT don't have the ability to survive long term or be healthy with no plants? Living longer = health, right? And if you're just going to try to take something I say and pull "that's debunked" out of your ass without evidence or links, then don't bother. Post some evidence of your own. As an aside, the reason I take the time to hand people like you's ass back to them on a platter isn't because I care what you eat. Coming on the internet and trying to convince OTHERS to eat animal products (even toxin-laden fish), knowing its leads to long term health problems and also leads to extreme and horrendous animal suffering, is a form of borderline sociopathy, at best. There is no other explanation for why otherwise normal humans, who claim to love animals and would never eat their own pet fish, turtle or dog, come on the internet and try to convince others to contribute to suffering, and make claims it's healthier to do so, when evidence shows low-meat eaters and non-meat eaters live longer. period. If you want to "eat shit and die" (because that's literally what you're doing), have at it. But stop trying to convince other people it's the way to go.
