In my former church we were taught that you cannot challenge leadership and used the story of Korah when he challenged Moses and the earth opened up and swallowed them!!! Also we were told that if we wanted to see the finacilas of the church, we had to give offering and tithe for 3 consecutive years in order to see the books. I spent almost 8 years there and never saw the books. That's why the leader stands in his bully pulpit and slander us by saying that we only gave $20 a week... BTW we met EVERY DAY FOR YEARS and gave EVERY DAY during those YEARS!

Don't put leaders on pedestal. They are just human with flaws like everyone else. If one takes every word leaders said as coming from God, then that becomes a cult.

I am grateful for this. Thank you! It’s not that calling people out of the sin of gossip is bad and cultish. It’s “how” these pastors use it to weaponize (fear them into silence when their abuses and misconducts) people with. I am still processing what I just went through with a community that has a reputation of being “cultish” and I didnt want to believe it but now that I walked away from it i see so many more red flags…and this video sheds light on some of what I’m processing.

Also, the Korah and Moses story is used all the time to establish servanthood towards the leader and all your actions have to be toward serving the leader. When you leave or you are removed from the church (meaning the actual church of Christ, not that particular congregation) then you are slander to the max and labeled an Jehzabel obviously, a witch a warlock, an abuser,etc...

19:00. Yes! But that's kind of how almost all of our churches act. It's EXTREMELY divisive.

It is not so shocking that leaders in the church are becoming more like a cult figure. Wat is eve more shocking is why has the church become a prey to such cult leaders. wat is the reason?
@TheReluctantProphet1964 Жыл бұрын
That’s easy to answer. The cult of Trump took over the church and now we just idolize flawed humans.

In general, when people want to shrink the body if Christ to less then what we are taught in the Bible, you want to ask, whose earthly Kingdom are they trying to build. Certainly not our Savior's.

You do important work and the BITE acronym is helpful. But when you use a pastor warning against gossip as an example of a cult it goes too far. If we are not careful every organisation we disagree with is gonna be labelled a cult. There needs the be more than "sniffing" - there needs to be objective factors that constitute cultlike control. And there needs to be a spectrum from anarchy to totalitarian.

I disagree whole heartedly: It is my personal experience, that the first sign of false religion always is slander.

I agree with many of the points concerning cult behavior but to say it is cultic to say that there is one way to God Implies Christ is a cult leader. I am concerned that in our quest to expose abusive leaders that we lump scripture that deals with obvious sins as also abusive. Christ’s teaching deals with avoiding abusive leaders but he also taught about dying to oneself that drove people away and also because he expose their sins. Truth is not always popular especially in our culture that avoids anything that confronts our self-centered morality. I am vehemently a berean who always believe in reading scripture with critical thinking with also open to input from others who may confront with needed correction. We need a balance on both scriptures that encourages us and also invokes guilt because it expose something that needs to change.

Yes, Jesus says He is the only way to heaven and l believe that wholeheartedly! I hope what they’re talking about is churches that teach if your not part of their denomination then you’re not saved. There’s a lot of that going on.

The Bible establish no denomination at all, and I have looked around and found no church denomination at all, not one, that is 100% perfect in all of it's teachings and doctrines. All denomination has doctrines to some degree, that is in open conflict not least with the teachings of Apostle Paul, who called himself the apostle for the gentile nations, and only according to the gospel, that the Holy Spirit revealed through him can we be saved at all. All major denominations in fact holds on to church doctrines, that openly oppose doctrines in scripture. Basically, you could claim, that today Christianity counts between 50-60.000 cults and not one true Bible based church in all matters. This is not an argument for ecumenism, by the way: To bow down to the false prophet and antichrist leader of the whore of Babylon in Rome, one of the wickedest men on Earth in a church, that all Reformers called out as antichrist church, that is literally insane. It is an argument for reading the Bible and not making man or denominations (institutions and tax exempt corporations) the final authority in spiritual matters and doctrines. Sola Scriptura!

Anything but fair, and it takes very little honest research to see this fact. A travesty to hear him act as if he was going off factual data when they recounted the same fake ballots twice in the “recount”

Lost me even more on not listening to things on the internet, but only bowing down to authorities. I am tired of that song: Research includes considering many resources and also consider conflicts of interest and that for includes dismissing self-established voices of authority. I am no Donald Trump supporter, never was, but Joe Biden essentially in full public has bragged about committing major election fraud and I have seen many evidences of it.

Call me a cult but according to Scripture, we shouldn’t turn to women for preaching, and teaching. Unless it’s an older woman teaching younger women on women matters.

If she stood on a pulpit in church or called herself a pastor, I would agree, but you stretch the word of God too far: Several of the greatest workmen of Apostle Paul even were women and for sure also preached the word outside the church. Apollo even were lovingly rebuked in his teachings in preaching on Old Testament alone and into preaching the word more perfectly, according to the mystery revealed through Apostle Paul, by the couple, Priscilla and Aquila.

@ my understanding? No, the Bible is extremely explicit and crystal clear on this matter. 2,000 years of Christianity history is also clear on this matter.

@@samueljimenez7420 why are there so many different interpretations of scripture and denominations and even cults supposedly based on scripture then. It s not clear!!!! Your interpretation is clear to you. Knowing the God of the universe who is infinite and far beyond our human capacity to understand requires study, examination, interpretation and discernment….
