The "cultic" activities of Mark Driscoll and The Trinity Church have escalated to a whole new level. On this edition of The Roys Report, two former members of Driscoll’s security detail - Chad Freese and Ben Eneas - share their firsthand knowledge of this cult of personality.
Driscoll is now sending cease and desist letters, threatening to sue whistleblowers. And the threat is not in vain. Driscoll reportedly has amassed a $10 million dollar litigation fund to sue whistleblowers into oblivion.

I've seen it all. Had the abusive Lead pastor, I could stand up to him because he had nothing on my dad. But All the other men bowed the head. He ran off 24 Ass. Pastors , secretaries etc. In fact every church I attended collapsed. I am 70 years old. Not saved in a church. About 20 years ago the Lord clearly led me out of church. My faith stronger than ever..

A friend of mine met Bill Clinton in a reception line years ago, before the Monica Lewinsky thing. She told me the moment she touched his hand she got a creepy vibe and the phrase "horn dog" popped into her mind. At the time we just laughed. When I heard Mark Driscoll speak and looked at his face, I got the same vibe. He has a cruel dark countenance of a sexual predator, with sadistic overtones. There is something else, very deep I sense about him--there is a lot more that needs to be exposed. I had the same feeling hearing Jim Jones preach. I shudder to think of what his wife has to endure in intimate moments. My husband's profession required us to move several times during our 55-yr marriage, and in one church I got this same vibe from the pastor. after attending for only a few weeks. I told my husband we HAD to leave. NOW. My husband still thinks I'm crazy, but I haven't changed my mind. Then, other times I have been clueless. I faithfully listened to Ravi Zacarias for years. He helped me grow in my Christian walk. My takeaway from his transgressions is: 1) There are always SIGNS--I think they call them Red Flags. 2) No one gets away with this type of sin without being ENABLED by FRIENDS, FAMILY AND STAFF. The worst part is enablers continue to lie and excuse the horrific behavior, and deny their own role in aiding and abetting, refusing to ever acknowledge guilt. I do not believe in MEGA churches--they allow evil people to hide in plain sight and give them access to POWER, MONEY and VULNERABLE people. Small groups, home Bible study, life groups--that works for me. The late Zola Levitt said the 3 criteria for choosing a church should be: 1) Teach Bible 2) Teach Bible 3) Teach Bible.

As a former Mars Hill Intern and full time member, I started to see glaring spiritual issues creep up from behind closed doors. I eventually left because I started seeing the corruption and evil that was coming from Mark. After Mark was asked to step down from MH. he fled the state and refused to come under church disclipline. Mark is in open sin and apparently is continuing down that path.

It's concerning that when asked by a detective why he waited 5 months to report a pedophile, Freese said he wasn't doing it because he thought a child was in danger, but because the church was covering it up. Ummm... Yes, children were in danger and that should be the core focus of reporting it to the police. Exposing the church is a secondary outcome! Saving the child is ALWAYS first, sir.

I'm not sure where this comment is relevant to abuse within churches. Any church or institution that has money could be giving to any worthy cause. The issue being discussed here is abuse within the church and it would be good to focus on what can be done to redress abusive church structures rather than bring in an irrelevant comment like ' you better eat your food because some poor child in Africa is starving'.

@@KJ-lb4tj first of all it's my opinion. Which I have a right to share and you can certainly disagree. But mega churches certainly do abuse the money they receive. Evangelicals generated 22 billion a year. There are literally thousands of homeless in America. Family's and children because rent is to high!!! Jesus chose to be poor , that is the example he set. Yet I cannot find one evangelical preacher from a mega church that does not enrich themselves!!!! Yes that is abuse. And it turning people away. The younger generation is turning away and I believe eventually they will lose that tax free status!! As they should . Why should you be able to say your nonprofit if the pastor as Franklin Graham does pays himself 700 k year!! What did Jesus say to the rich man??????

The Wolf: When it comes to MY sins, it's al about grace, mercy and forgiveness (so I don't really have to repent) When it comes to YOUR sins (or what his warped mind thinks is your sins), cease and desist. I know a story of a young lady who brought a sexual assault allegation against a congregant (congregant, not a church staff) at a local Baptist Church. She was part of the church singles group. The "pastor" of that group (whom everyone seemed to admire ... admiration is supposed to be saved for Jesus ... see 2 Thess 1), just 6 months or so earlier, got in the pulpit and "addressed" a problem where guys were coming in at mid-week service and making girls uncomfortable by hitting on them with this statement: "Ladies, if any of these guys are giving you problems, send them to me, I'll take care of them." REMEMBER THESE WORDS. Great. A leader who is nothing but a defender of the weak, giving it all for Jesus. Fast forward 6 months this lady comes forward with a sexual assault allegation. Well ... suddenly it wasn't so clear who was in the wrong. Six months earlier it was crystal clear. They did the token "investigation." The guy pretty much admitted to her claim. So what happened next? They rushed him into a marriage. Yes, literally, you heard that right! In other words, "everything is true and pure and clean." Guess how they handled her. Well this amazing "pastor" never reviled her. He just stood by while all the people under his "care" did that dirty work for him. Eventually she left the church. No that wasn't enough. They had to go following her all over town and make sure everyone at the new church she attended knew what a problem she was. At one point she became suicidal. By the Grace of God she got past that. Here is the irony of it all. If you look at this man's words by the letter, he was actually true to it. He did, in fact, take care of the guy. I will leave you with more thing about this great "man of God." One Saturday he came out to take up a collection for a single mom in distress. Great, that's a great opportunity for the church and for the Gospel. He made a presentation, then wagged his finger and instructed everyone to "give 'til it hurts!" Alarm bells. Yes, as Christians we should be going so deep in our faith that sacrificial giving becomes part of who we are. You see that in 2 Cor 8 where Paul reminds the Corinthians of the Macedonian church and their giving. Keep reading. "I speak not by commandment ..." ( v. 8) There's tension in the air. Sacrificial giving is presented, but commandment is apparently not the way into that. So what is? Keep reading again to Chapter 9. "But this I say: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows [d]bountifully will also reap [e]bountifully. 7 So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of [f]necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver." Oh, right! Preaching cheerful giving and practicing cheerful receiving produces generous people! This way, you are made generous by the mediation of the indwelling Christ and are free from the control of man. Amazing! Christ is dwelling in your heart by faith (Eph. 3). This man side-steps the Scripture and tries to force generous giving. This is abusive conditioning, not glorious transformation. Fast-forward to just a few years ago. He purchases a home, at the time of purchase, close to 55% above the median in this area. The message is loud and clear: "Give 'til it hurts, so I can live 'til it doesn't."

I've served at a church in Pico rivera which had cultic attributes. The husband and wife were the soul runners of this gathering and when asked about the income they would not show how much they brought in a year, they had no elders and no leaders to keep them accountable and they had children serving them at home and serve them as butlers. Tithing was a major part of their sermons grown men still live in there home and never married due to the pushing of serving and were called (armor bearers) to protect the Pastor and his wife and were told," if you here anybody saying anything bad about us come and tell us." God used this to show me abuse in these gatherings I don't believe these are churches yet believers dwell in them... These are organizations set up by men

Strutting around, using Malachi chapter 3 verses 8, 9 and 10, as a demolition wrecking ball, just to get money out of people! SICK! And having single men serving them in their own home! These men should be married with children, not being treated like children themselves. And as for using their kids as butlers - sounds like Child Abuse to me! They should be reported to Child Protective services! DISGUSTING!!!

You should do some research on the enneagram... I recommend the material produced by Marcia Montenegro. It's like a horoscope. You might as well discuss what sign you were born under. No tool formed by man should tell you who you are or control you like that, especially if you apply your "number" to your relationships, when Scripture says we should not show favoritism. It doesn't matter what number you got, you still would have read yourself into the description anyway. And just like a horoscope, it does not belong in church and should not be used to define us as the Body of Christ.

Sounds like Driscoll is a typical narcissist. I tried to listen to him once or twice but I could discern the arrogance and pride in him. Narcissists don't change because they think they are never wrong. I had a pastor long ago that was a narcissist and was spiritually abused by him and he pulled the touch not God's anointed card. Attacking me from the pulpit with his messages. I stood my ground and left that church. He pursued me and could not get past the fact that I would not submit to his abuse and was not afraid of him. Several other churches got involved, one Pastor said that Pastors could only be corrected from above. One Pastor in the group defended me and several others that brought accusations against the pastor that was spiritually abusing me and others in the congregation. This stuff has been going on in many churches for a very long time. Also, narcissists are always portraying themselves as the victims.

Couldn’t find anything unbiblical, but something didnt set well. Just something about the guy and his personality. I shook it off as my issue for a few more times, then realized some of the rather mean things he was saying were “what?” moments. He is a good speaker like these guys say. The last sermon I listenes to though he said some really out of left field things that definitely raised red flags, so I unsubscribed and have not watched him since. Crack your bibles open and ask God to reveal Himsel. He will. He will lead you to recognize good teachers. And when you find one there is nothing better.

Dealing with a Pastor that is a strong control person can be difficult, a best friend had a father in-law that met that definition but some folks need that kind of leadership. I listened to a couple of Driscoll's sermons and found him reserved as if afraid to express his real or complete view. It is easy to harshly judge someone especially if you are jealous of their ability to build a large following and many many want to-bees will nit-pick you to death, so much that the defensiveness gets in the way of the calling. He does have an anointing, everyone needs to remember God's called are never perfect, nor is Driscoll or I or vou. What is my opinion of you and your report, well just another WOKE Liberal doing what they do looking for ways to destroy what they are incapable of understanding. Just my first impression? Who gives you authority to attack God's called? Remember the scripture's command? He suffered no man to do them wrong: yea, he reproved kings for their sakes; 15 Saying, Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm. Of course, who am I to judge you?

"Dealing with a Pastor that is a strong control person can be difficult, a best friend had a father in-law that met that definition but some folks need that kind of leadership." Some folks? You mean like very small children who are likely to run out in the middle of the street and get hurt or killed? Or like elderly persons suffering from dementia who wander off and can't remember who they are, and would go with a stranger, or lie down outside in the winter when tired? Because those are the two types of persons who need strong controls put around them for their own safety. Other than that, no, nobody needs that type of leadership. They just get used to being disrespected or abused.

This podcast never denied power and anointing of Driscoll’s sermons- it clearly states that Driscoll’s walk does not reflect his talk-that Humility is not evident in his personal life nor in his leadership beyond the Sunday pulpit. It’s true, Driscoll is not for everyone- he wears a t-shirt that reads this- there is some irony in that statement. Driscoll is not for everyone-he is for himself.

I am grateful to say that I am a born again Christian and have been since I was 19.......yes indeed i enjoy listening to this dear man of God Mark Driscoll and I much pray God's peace and comfort on him and his family each and everyday and that God uses him and his ministry mightily to much glorify and lift high the king of kings and the lord of lords!!!!!! to God Be All The Glory!!!!! Great Things He Hath Done!!!!!! and all hail king Jesus!!!!! the king of kings and the lord of lords!!!!!! however folks these days are getting darker and Christ is coming soon and if you don’t know Christ as your savior then it burdens my soul to think that you are headed for a terrible place called Hell where the Bible says the fire is never quenched and the worm dies not! Folks you are not promised tomorrow! If you want to know how to be saved from this horrible reality then please by all means don’t hesitate to comment right back so I can lead you to the savior! 2 Corinthians 6:2 clearly states “now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation!” And Hebrews 3:15 clearly states, “Today if you hear his voice don’t harden your hearts! it is not me but the Holy Spirit that I pray reveals to you the truth of his precious gospel......John 3:16 says for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whoever believes on him will not perish but have everlasting life! V 17 says then V 18 says whoever believes on the son is not condemned but whoever does not believe on the son is condemned already because he has not believed on the son whom God has sent! Also Acts 16:30-31 what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house I am not threatening anyone but just warning them what will happen if they reject this precious gift of eternal life! Christ died a horrible criminals death! He was beaten brutally mocked spit upon and endured countless hours of torture pain for all of our sins! Ppl go to hell because they reject that pardon for their sins! And Jesus is saying to them in Matthew 25:41 depart from me you cursed into everlasting fire prepared for the devil and his angels! Hell was only prepared for Satan and his angels! It is not God who threatens anyone it is the craziness of rejecting the free pardon of salvation! It’s like if you’re in court you’ve committed a crime say you murdered someone! Now if you say to that Judge hey I know I’ve done a terrible thing of murdering that person but I hear you’re a good judge and so I know you’ll be fair to me...... the judge is going to reply well yes you’re right about one thing I am a good judge and because I’m a good judge I’m going to see to it that you’re punished and that justice is served! Well then all of a sudden someone you don’t even know comes forward and says you know what I know he’s committed the crime he’s committed and he deserves to go to jail but I really don’t want to see him go to prison so I’ll just go to prison for him so he can go free! So if you accepted that offer you’d be free to leave the courtroom but if you didn’t well you’d be crazy and go to prison yourself! Well that’s exactly how it was 2,000 years ago! He is God in human flesh and he came to this earth lived a perfect sinless life and even though he knew that we had sinned and because of our sins deserved to die miserably but he said no I don’t want to see them suffer so I will go and take their punishment for them! Even though he did absolutely nothing wrong still he chose to take the punishment for our sins so we can be set free from the power bondages and consequences of our disobedience to God! Romans 5:8 says For God commends his love toward us that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us! 1 John 2:2 says he was made to be the propitiation for our sins! And not just for our sins but the sins of the whole world! 2 Corinthians 5:21 He who knew no sin became Sin for us that we would be made his righteousness! The truth is if you had to get to Heaven by your own effort then you cannot do it! Because Romans 3:10 says there is not one that does good! No Not One! Romans 3:23 says For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God! Romans 6:23 says For the wages of sin is death! But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our lord! But the good news is Romans 10:9 If we confess with our mouth and believes in our hearts that Christ died for our sins then was raised from the dead we will be saved! V 10 For it’s with the heart we believe and it’s with the mouth confession is made unto salvation! God gave us 10 commandments to follow and we’ve broken every one of them! And because God is a good God he cannot allow our disobedience to him to go unpunished! Well then like I just mentioned above his son Jesus stepped forward and said no I don’t want to see them punished so I will take their punishment for them! And also like I said he died a terrible substitute criminal’s death for us on a cross so now all we have to do is accept that payment for our sins and we can escape the terrible wrath of God that is to fall on them who do not accept this atonement that was sacrificed for our sins! Praise the lord Romans 10:13 says Whoever calls on the name of the lord shall be saved! And 1 Peter 1:4 you’re an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you! Christ clearly said in John 14:6 I am the way the truth and the life and no one comes to the father but through me! Acts 4:12 clearly states that there is no other name given unto Heaven or earth by which we must be saved as there is salvation in no other! Jesus clearly states that there is clearly only one way to Salvation and it’s him that’s it! There is no other way! God Bless everyone who reads!

I remember when I was living in Michigan and wanted to return to the church, I started listen to Christian radio and James McDonald had a sermon that talked about men not acting like women, wild animals, or children. It was immediately infuriating because not all women are hysterical and childlike especially the women that I work with who are first responders and put their lives on the line to save others. It came off as extremely misogynistic and that women act like hysterical wild animals and have low cognitive function like children. A little off topic…Nancy Demoss Wolgemuth who always spoke about women staying home where they are protected and where they belong. She about worships John Piper. Immediately infuriating and they turned me off from going back to church. Years before that I encountered a prophet who had his little imp follower who always thought that God works through them and if people don’t submit to their word it’s like slapping God in the face. I was labeled rebellious and unsubmitted when I didn’t want to go into business with him and I kindly said no I would like to follow my own path and a career. They said I was throwing arrows at them by not submitting. I had to write a letter of apology to this prophet Bishop/Pastor/Spiritual covering (whatever he was) that I apologize for saying no to you and it’s like slapping God in the face by slapping you in the face. This spiritual covering profit did not like hearing the answer “no” and his little imp follower said that he’s not used to hearing the word “no”, but he’s used to people obeying his word. His little imp follower always told me that this spiritual covering would test me. I’m still not sure exactly what that means to this very day, but I think it was to see if I would submit to his will. The spiritual covering prophet would attack people from the pulpit and I saw him literally get into a fistfight with a member in the congregation after he verbally attacked that member from the pulpit. They hated how I dressed, my hobbies (too masculine 🙄)., etc. They said (after I found out a year after all the crap), that they were preparing me for the UPHC. Ugh 😣

These men need to grow up! Either that or they need some diapers! I've heard this kind of craziness before. Immature men who have a tantrum every time a woman doesn't swoon before him! Women aren't thick. Neither are children. Neither are animals. It's these misogynistic little boys who think they should be worshipped because of their gender and 'calling'. Trust must be earned. Respect must be earned. Obedience and submission doesn't come along on a plate. These too must be earned, and the man, even a Bishop, has no right to expect any such unless he's prepared to do what it takes. And that starts with maturity. Same goes for the little imp! They're just silly little boys who can't leave the sandpit! Some of us women have had extremely responsible jobs. He has what seems to be a great marriage and fantastic kids who all loves the Lord and serve in the church with him. So what’s the issue? Get Driscoll on with these guys and let them talk publicly and let Driscoll face his accusers. Just seems like a constant attempt to tear down the church.

I can give you my opinion of Bethel, very likely the most NEW TESTAMENT like church I have ever seen. The Pastor is more like Christ's first visit, he is a Suffering Servant Messiah like personality, kind generous, forgiving and plants that in all that are sent to him for training. Don't get me wrong, but he relies on Holy Spirit to give him direction and seems to always hunger for more. So do his Sheep. That hunger is difficult for those that don't think Holy Spirit and his giftings are still active today? But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God. For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. Where is brethren in the Bible? Romans 8:29-30 show us that these brethren are those who are predestinated, called, justified, and glorified; and Hebrews 2:11 makes it clear that they are those who are sanctified with Christ.
