You recently reviewed the FIFINE USB/XLR Dynamic Microphone, which, based on your review, seemed very effective in noisy environments. It was on sale for less than $50, so I bought it, and it is. I love it. The only thing I dislike about it is the RGB ring. Thank you for reviewing it. For my needs, it is better than the Shure SM58 Pro XLR Dynamic Microphone, which you also reviewed (and I bought on sale for $89).

Whoa! Totally missed the Lewitt Ray but that is genuinely some neat features for a microphone. Immediately getting added to my wishlist for when I'm looking to blow more money on mics.
@Necropolis2012322 күн бұрын
When you muted the Lewitt Ray @2:43 I could hear you say "Now I am muted". What caused this?
@TsvetelinIvanovTheBachkator22 күн бұрын
I don't own the mic but in all reviews i've seen it seems the mute is just a big volume decrease. Still a nice mic tho
@Podcastage22 күн бұрын
Yeah. The mute button is a -40db pad if I remember correctly. Still nice to have. And the mute by distance seems like a true mute which is interesting.
@yuranival17 күн бұрын
@@Podcastage i may be wrong but i guess it's the same -40db with the distance thing, bc one can still hear you a bit (in headphones) when you move away or to the side. Still this was the mic that actually piqued my interest the most this past year! A really innovative take on the popular mute function (and that on the hardware side!), even if it's not used in the widest range of scenarios. Way to go, Lewitt!
@ShaneT5S22 күн бұрын
Over the last year I picked up something that you use quite a lot in your reviews: The Gator Frameworks quick release adapters. These are great for when I want to quickly swap between my Shure SM7b and my Neumann TLM 102, which was also another thing I got this year, for when I want to just chat and talk vs when I want to record my described video and voiceover work, and don't want the SM7b sound

Happy Holidays, Season's Greetings, and Merry Christmas!! Thanks for all you do!! Btw, long before I cared about mics or knew anything about them, I did several years on a radio morning show as the "say stupid sh** guy." Anyway, I remember thinking the mics looked "weird." Turns out they were BCM 104s. You're welcome for the boring story...

I have a Monte Allums modded Green Label MIJ Boss CE2-B, definitely one of my favourite things too, especially on synth. FWIW you dont need a re-amp box for most pedals - if they work with synths they will work with your interface line. Very few sound different. I have 2 pedal loops (1 stereo, 2 mono) on my ADAT expander, so i can send to them pre (via the DSP) or post in-box effects.
@alex-plays84079 күн бұрын
How about a video on *combining* and mixing cheap microphone pairs that have different characteristics for instrumental (ideally piano) recording ?
@HersheyBar22 күн бұрын
Dude, I totally missed the X1A... Maybe that would be the one to get for a condenser... I am currently back in the seat with the SE electronics V7... I go back and forth between that and the electro voice RE20.. going into an SSL 2 . Maybe, it would be fun to try out new interfaces... I still think noisesist or cedar is pretty cool to have... Anyhow, a happy holiday to you brother, you make some dope content and hope 2025 brings you a lot of success as well! Cheers 🍫👨🦯😎

I'm love to see a proximity sensor that could be used to control a VST instead - even if it was only for one mic. Would allow not just editing after the fact it but using the automation for other things.

Grabbed an Elgato mic arm, the stiff, low Version you can only turn. Gave my PSA1 Rode to a friend after Rode sent me a replacement part for free(thank you Rode!), but after I‘d gotten the Elgato arm. Other than that it‘s all software. DxRevivePro(I‘m a dialogue editor&mixer), ProQ4, Arouser. Oh yeah, a friend and fellow engineer gifted me his unused Focusrite Red7 preamp/comp. Sure hope I put it to good use. It‘s a fine unit.

I think the KM104 is up there with the Mojave 201 FET for the two mics that sound the best on your voice. The Mojave has a little more air to it but the Neumann has a smoothness about it that is probably safer for people with sibilance issues.

Bandrew, I wish you would review the U89i and the TLM 170 R so we could hear them up against the U87ai and the U67 Reissue. The U89i is of course the last microphone from the "U series" and is supposed to be an upgraded and better version of the U87. People claim that the TLM 170 R is the most transparent and natural sounding condenser from Neumann, both the U89i and the TLM 170 R use the same capsule, one of course has a transformer and one doesn't, most people can't tell them apart. It's annoying to have to ask this knowing you would have to pay from your own pocket but I'm sure you could return them if you wanted to after the reviews are done.

It was a good year (after several years being tangential to the precipice of Hell): 2 Audioscape compressors, BAE 1073 dual, A-Designs Hammer2, a Stam 4000mk2 and 3 mics: KSM32, U87Ai and Samar AL95. _[edit: and a couple 550b EQs in a radial sixpack.... "API, F*ck Yeah!"]_
