Podhu Thaniyan for Prabandhams
1. Sriman Nathamunigal sees a group of men hailing from Thirunagari reciting verses from ‘Aravamudhe’ at the Veeranarayana Puram temple
2. He is moved by the rendition
3. Enquires about the origin of the Pasurams, and is guided to look for answers at Thiru-Kurugoor
4. Nathamunigal reaches Thiru-Kurugur sees the Gopuram on the banks of the Thamrabharani river and worships the Lord and Nammazhwar at the temple
5. Receives Kannunin Siru-thambu as Deeksha from Parankusa Dasar, a disciple of Madhurakavi Azhwar
6. Chants the 11 verses of Kanninun Siru-thambu 12,000 times as suggested by Parankusa Dasar in front of a Tamarind tree
7. Nammazhwar, along with Madhurakavi Azhwar, appears and blesses Nathamunigal not only with Thiruvaimozhi which ‘Aravamudhe’ is a part of, but also the rest of the Divya Prabandham
8. Nathamunigal dances in ecstasy at a temple, wearing kulla and ankle-bells to the rhythm of the cymbals. This pioneers musical presentation of the Divya Prabandham which comes to be known as ‘Araiyar Sevai’.
