Trying to understand "speed nocks". was at my local bow shop a few weeks ago looking at a clarifiers (Getting old :P) and requested the adapter with the peep sighting tube (don't care what anyone says or thinks, I like 'em). The bow tech said something to the effect that it adds more weight to the string and reduces velocity, I said, so what, I like 'em. While in the process of building an experimental bow based on Chinese parts, I realized that if this works out, I would require a custom made string when it's time to replace the string. This got me looking closely at the strings on my other bows. My Mathews bow has what appears to be weights near the cam's, after some research I found that it's probably true that adding weight to the string, such as a heavy peep sight will reduce velocity. However, if you add the correct amount of weight in the correct position, this has the effect of dampening the string vibrations and reduction of energy lost, resulting in higher velocities. The problem is, what is the correct amount of weight and location and how do we figure this out. This would make an awesome video if you were to experiment with this, perhaps come up with some generic rules for adding speed nocks to bows that don't have them.

In a previous video (likely on elk shape) I heard you talking about how most guys should run a 400-450 grain arrow for speed/tighter pin gap. I have also heard that after a bow starts shooting more than 290 fps you get diminishing returns as far as pin gap is concerned. I’d be curious to see a test between a bow at 290 and something 300+ and compare pin gap. Love the content, keep it up!!

If I had to guess scott sigma, carter wise choice, and stan perfex (now discontinued). what makes them the best is the carter and stan for sure have counterparts in true tension releases. The scott and perfex have really good adjustablity and the wise choice is a very good release

I currently have a bear G2 cruiser 2021, I have spent a few bucks upgrading the rest. Have a tight spot and duel stabs. My idea for new content would be reviewing lower price point bows. I can’t afford a flagship bow but not sure what to move up to. I have a great home town shop where I live and I am just across the boarder from you. I shot many top bows for this year and I'll tell you what - The Bear whitetail legend pro was pretty damn good for $560 !!!!! The Bear isn't as finely polished in the machine work on the riser and final finish as other $1000+ bows but,, it performed very well for the $$$..... I almost bought that bow but, I don't want a green color & the grey wasn't available.

@Podium Archer I took my Mathews Halon 6 to my local bow shop to get custom strings put on. When I got the bow back it was 5/16" shorter than factory axle to axle and the cables were almost 1/4" (no where near running through the timing holes on the cams. And they put pine ridge speed sleeves (which coincidentally slide around on the strings and I constantly have to reposition them) instead of replacing the factory speed nocks. Is any of this acceptable? Am I wrong in assuming with brand new strings my bow would be returned to me perfectly within factory specs and with the proper speed nocks on it vs these rubber sleeves? Doesn't this all affect the performance of the bow? Thank you

MFJJ ,,,,, THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR REPLING BACK TO ME !!!!!!! think about how people take vega's and pinto's etc in the older days ,including what they do today in today's time like in FAST AND FURIEST , ,drop a souped up v6 or v8 in them and completely blow away local muscles cars on their streets . you are one of the greatest MMJJ . here is something i did in december of 2021 . instead of almost buying a used bow several times i decided to get 2 brand new PSE UPRISING bows , one to get ready just to hunt and one to shoot everyday target, 3d, etc. and deck out with all types of cool gear . i got whisker biscuits on both and trophy ridge react 4's on both . one day i will hopefully get you to do a custom string and cable job on both . if anyone can make these 400 dollar bows shoot and perform like 1000 dollar bows i have complete confidence you can . taken apart and applying silicone or graphite grease to rod and hardware at the least .these bows shoot pretty smoothly already and are to me accurate enough to get the job done . i already dripped some 100% pure silicone oil on the rods and bushings . i look at the rod ,bearings and bushings that hold the cams in and wondered if putting better hardware, rods , bearings, bushings into these compact bows would it make a lot of difference ? . YOU WANT AN FUN IDEA TO MAKE ANOTHER KOOL VIDEO , DO A SERIES ON TAKING ECONOMICAL BOWS AND TURNING THEM INTO SUPER PERFORMING BOWS , WOW ! LIKE I TOLD ONE OF MY BUDS WHO OWNS A HOYT , I WOULD RATHER HAVE TWO DECENT BOWS ,PLENTY OF ARROWS AND GEAR THAN JUST ONE BOW WITH HARDLY ANYTHING ELSE , HIS REST QUIVER ,DROP AWAY SITE AND DOZEN OF HIGH PRICED ARROWS SET HIM BACK ABOUT 2500 . I HAVE SPENT ABOUT THAT MUCH BUT HAVE ALMOST 250 ARROWS , PLENTY OF ALL TYPES OF BROAD HEADS and other points , ALL KINDS OF COOL GEAR etc. . so again i humbly ask the master , can upgrading rods ,bearings and bushings that hold the cams, maybe different cams in and wondered if putting upgraded parts might significantly improve these two PSE UPRISING BOWS ?

I actually install lots of strings and with good builders I never have to time more than 1/2 twist if any. However, I can see importance in what your saying and potentially the upside but don't think its mandatory but not everyone is super experienced. Plus you can guarantee strings are installed correctly! Maybe you can make a video on tuning for 3D or outdoor and field if you have a different method i.e line tuning. Most of the videos are on hunting which is fine but most comp shooters have other methods for indoor/field tunes or torque tuning. Maybe you do or don't

With todays shipping issues that seems like a high risk situation for a minimal gain. If it was a big deal then pro archers would send their bows in to get them strung. I like a bunch of your content but this is one that I don’t quite swallow. I have installed plenty of string sets and when they are good quality it’s not an issue.

man, wish i didnt live on the other side of the country. I would love to learn from the master! my local pro shop thinks there is only one way to shoot a bow, and its their way. I have been shooting a bow since I was 16, and they told me I shouldnt use a hinge, and use a wrist release. I just walked out, and havent been back since.

I just shot the Whitetail legend pro - Impressive for 1/2 the cost of other bows..... Not as refined in the machining of the riser but the draw cycle & the shot wasn't TOO SHABBY !!!! Not for $560

It's why I stopped going there and started going to Triple X Archery, same drive time for me. Previous experience with SVA and getting new strings, I was told it would be two weeks. After 2.5 weeks I call to get an update, told maybe another week. Six weeks after I dropped it off and many calls later I get told it's ready. Forest maybe able to tune a bow, but his customer service and communication skills lack that of a fast food chain.
