OK. I have been shooting the same bow for 10 years (with large pauses and one new string). Recently I have been having issues with my anchor point. Watched several video from various people. Dude you knocked it out of the park! Problem solved! Thank you! If I make it back to Spokane, first beverage of your choice is on me. Seriously.

That’s a great tip to cheat your peep up and down. Something I learned working in a shop, is when I would get the peep set it always seemed to be twisted one way or the other. Depending on how a peep is tied in, lots of time you can get your peep to twist back to center with the direction of your wraps. Great channel and keep the tips rollin!!

I'm just returning to the compound bow after about a 10 year sabbatical due to injury. After I rehabbed from the injury I got into crossbow hunting, however, needed a new lighter challenge. Recently purchased a new Hoyt Alpha X 30 at my local bow shop. Plenty of time to learn new technique and practice before our late summer bow season for white tail. Made the purchase based on your reviews as well as others. Shot the RX-8 but decided on the Aluminum Alpha. Hard to justify the difference in price point with the small difference in weight.

Good video. I have developed a serious case of target panic and I've finally decided to change my whole setup to address issues. I have struggled for years with draw length and anchor points. There does seem to be some differing opinion on anchor points with the hand. The index knuckle to the ear lobe and the gap between the two knuckles on the jaw line.

The back of the jaw, on that pressure point CAN be an anchor point, but depending on release and how you hold it, there are many other contact points you can use. Personally, as long as the string is on the tip of my nose, and corner of the mouth, and i’m looking through the peep, that’s all you need. And that will work with every release, no matter how you hold it.

I just installed spot Hogg warped 5 pin sight ( got it on eBay for $155 )I had windage problems. I would set up spacer to cheat sight left middle or right. I would not have micro adjustments to get it to shoot striaght. I see the strings through peep when I shoot. It’s shoots straight. Was wondering if I should move drop rest to get strings out of my peep sight. I am 3 months. in on archery I get a kick out of messing with bow. I do have elite basin bow. Only because I could only draw 40 lbs. I have bow maxed out around 65-66lbs. I want to get vx3 soon. Only good thing about basin I could set it up for one of my daughters when I upgrade. Lol. Thanks for you content and insight.

Where is the optimal placement for the rubber dampener on the hamskea cord? High, low , middle length from the riser? Also any thoughts of running your cord to the yolk split on a Mathews? I know Dudley dose this on his PSE and KZbin channel “inside out precision” does this as well. Thought?

Hopefully someone can answer this… As a new archer, do you recommend having a nose button and a kisser on your bow???
@johnarcher9480
@johnarcher9480 3 ай бұрын
A kisser is a great additional contact point, but you may do just as well touching the string to the corner of your mouth, or just tying a couple knots of serving material where you would put the kisser button.

I’m hoping you can help me. I purchased a new Obsession Nitro HZ and I can’t get my string touch my nose. The shop where I purchased it said it’s because of the bows short axel to axel length. Is this true or am I not anchored right. I use a wrist strap.
@johnarcher9480
@johnarcher9480 3 ай бұрын
Short ATA bows make it hard to touch your nose. You can add a button or a kisser (still touch it with your nose).

I have had issues wearing glasses. Nose button on center of nose. But when aiming through peep my line of vision is in-between my lenses. How to correct this? I found if I put the button more to side of my nose I can line up through my lense. What's the correct way if any? Thanks
@johnarcher9480
@johnarcher9480 3 ай бұрын
If that works for you, and you can repeat it every time, you will be fine. Probably not a bad idea to add a 2nd string contact point, the corner of the mouth.

When I switch from thumb button to wrist strap, my peep alignment seems to be off when I try to use same anchor. Any tips?
@johnarcher9480
@johnarcher9480 3 ай бұрын
Do NOT use a hard anchor (knuckle on jaw) Instead try tip of the nose and corner of the mouth with the string. Hit those 2 spots the same every time, and the release won’t change where your peep is.

Love the content MFJJ can’t wait for the bow builds, testing, and decision! One anchor point I think you left out but you have mentioned on elk shape is the string touching the corner of your mouth! I have a really short nose so I can’t get my nose on the string without my head being in a really awkward position. So the mouth is my 2nd and most important anchor cause it gets my eye lined up over the string and the arrow!!

What if you hit the first anchor point behind the ear with ease. It feels like the correct draw length. But inorder for the tip of the nose to touch the string you're head has to tilt uncomfortably downward. Solution?
@fuenstock
@fuenstock 2 жыл бұрын
I have the same issue, for me I think I might be shooting 1/2” to short draw length. I tend to let my front shoulder scrunch back but when I push my front shoulder forward like I’m supposed to then I end up having to tilt my face forward uncomfortably to touch the string with my nose. Just a thought as that seems to be my issue, but it may be something different for you.

I have a really short nose and it won’t touch the string unless my head is awkwardly downward. So my 2nd anchor point is having the top string touch the corner of my mouth. By slightly touching the string its a point of contact every time i anchor and it lines my eye up over the string and the arrow p.s. MFJJ has mentioned that on an elk shape video before
