I wished you would’ve gone into more details about the pods. The size, how many pods you required, how big was your house, what is considered high season and low season, what was the total you paid,etc

I figured she wouldn't say anything about that. It took me around an hour on the phone to get an actual quote. They have 2 size options, an 8 foot and a 16, the 8 foot going long distance as they charge by miles not weight is around 3500, while the 16 is a little over 4000. For a family that can afford it, it's the way to go. However for me a single young man I used roadrunner and a crate I made for $900, which I don't recommend, I'm moving back in with my parents soon and I plan to use uhaul, which is 1200 and good for small moves.

This seems like a really good alternative and can allow someone to take their time loading their items. I feel like their largest pod just isn't large enough for most families so you'd have to get a couple of them.

Kaye in Kansas - Do you know about how many boxes you packed and what size boxes?
@KayeinKansas

Omg, lemme just say a lot. If you were just packing boxes and no huge furniture, you can fit prolly like 100-150 boxes- of course depending on the size. Hard to say exactly coz we had different sized boxes from work, and friends. I’m so sorry I couldn’t be more specific.

We moved from Minneapolis to Las Cruces, NM, several years ago and used PODS for pre-move storage and the actual move, with I think it was two full 16-feet containers. We believe that the price was well worth the great service. Always on schedule and must have been very careful handling. Only two glasses were broken - likely our fault in packaging. We are so totally satisfied that we unhesitatingly recommend PODS. Even for valuable items such as we had. Happy Trails!

How they would be responsible to be blamed for breaking your glasses anyways? Do you have to drive the POD yourself or do they drive it for you? I'm trying to find a company that can move my stuff from the west to east cost by truck. I plan on only bringing a carry on and personal item with me to the airport and having the rest of my belongings shipped. I have a combination of perfumes, some furniture, clothes, shoes etc. I can't bring the full size perfumes because I would need a checked bag. I'd rather just do the carry on situation and have everything else shipped by truck. Is there a more affordable way for me to do this?

Could you briefly elaborate on the schedule you had for the container, particularly one that you unpacked within the same month? We are debating how to distribute the days between packing - transport - unpacking and returning the container.
@KayeinKansas
@KayeinKansas Жыл бұрын
Transportation is dependent on when you want your POD to get to your destination- if you communicate it to them- they will get your POD there in time. For the packing, I think it took us about 2 weeks- but we seriously took our sweet time- then we had it in storage for about 6 months here in Kansas since we were building a house- unpacking was easy-it took hours since we hired help 😂

PODS recommends 1-16 ft and a 7 ft for lightly furnished homes, and 2 x 16 ft containers for heavily furnished homes. My husband and I stuffed our cars while we drove. Really up to you. It is doable to just have one 16 ft, you just have to pack your stuff in same size boxes and utilize your space very wisely.

@KayeinKansas
@KayeinKansas 3 жыл бұрын
Honestly, the 16 ft container does not look that big but if you plan it right you would be surprised at how much you can fit in there. We didn’t bring our washer/dryer but we had our Cal King, twin, and queen bed w box. Also, we brought most of our tools including a generator, miter saw electric, wet/dry vac, etc... and then 3 bedrooms full of stuff. We had tons of Christmas bins, garage stuff, a huge walk in shed items, office items, and my kitchen is a chefs kitchen (it’s huge). We sold our dining table, coffee table and bar stools. However, we did bring our 3- piece sectional couch. We had all those and it fit in 1 container. Let me say this, if you like Tetris and are good at it, you’ll be fine packing your container. 😂 Good luck in Georgia, please update me. I would love to hear your experience in moving!

Pods suck. Had to use them because I needed storage while the lower level was demoed. They moved the pod, really, dug big trenches in the yard after saying it could "mess up the sod." That's differnt than leaving big trenches, taking firewood sticks to shore up the truck that are now buried in the yard and impossible to mow over. Then he took out a whole tree. I don't know how much a 30 foot dogwood tree goes for but we're about to find out. he hit another larger tree and the tree won. He broke the pod. These are heavy gauge steel and he broke it to hte point the roof had buckled and the door no longer opened. The bottom of the door will no longer seal so since this is snake season, something to watch out for. They promised they'd be out the next day to replace the pod, move the items in it and put the dogwood tree back up. Like, you can knock a tree down and just stand it back up? Never heard a word from them again. Filed the first of several complaints against them this morning. Trees are very expensive and he destroyed one tree, damaged the root system on the other and the bark, and if that's not enough, expect your asphalt driveway to be chewed up. And make sure your credit card processes. I have had it with the attitude of never showing up on time, never doing anything but destroying my property and lord knows what the contents look like after he hit the larger tree so hard that the steel buckled.

I am soooo sorry 😞. That is a lot to deal with, specially when you’re moving. It is stressful enough, I can’t even imagine. I hope that they do something for you. Or at least do a discount or refund. Even so, the loss of your tree is huge.

@@KayeinKansas , thanks. To date, they have done nothing. I expect that the work will be done, I'll call service master to put stuff back and guess what? They can't because the door won't go up. The attitude really sucks too of "oh, sorry for taking out a few limbs."

Better get concrete confirmation from PODS that they will deliver to your new residence! Also if you have to store them for later transfer they may Not be willing to deliver to your new address. We moved from Cali. and had them stored in Knoxville, when we wanted them to deliver to Cookeville, they refused even though the rep. had told us it was not a problem. Extra $1250 out of my pocket to pay movers. Poor customer service, wait on phone over 45 mins. Steer clear!

Francois Michal Every Bad review of this company Every bad review is absolutely true. God I wish I listened to them. It has been an absolute nightmare. I am a disabled Veteran, severly disabled and had to move. I called the Jackson N.J. location. They dropped off two POD units with no signed contract. I had some friends help me fill them. PODS came and instead of shipping direct to my new home, they put them in storage at a facility in Jackson, N.J., while debiting 200. a month each for 6 mos.. I found that trying to get them released was never going to happen, poor Customer service, and the storage fees were just escalating, I never signed a contract for either, they are in possession of stolen goods. If I could sit in my wheelchair in formt of the strage facility in Jackson N.J. I would do it to prevent others from this company and their shady practices. DON'T DO IT, there are many othe Companies that are AMERICAN, that will not SPIN you. Sincerely a severly Disabled person.
