Raxx is such a great guy. When they announced Diablo immortal, it changed my gaming as well. Like most people I was expecting D4. And down in the comments section where everybody was ragging on the announcement and all that there was a guy who said something like Diablo is baby's first. Arpg Poe is for the real men. And I thought" oh man Poe, I haven't even played that since beta" which I didn't really care for it back then. I immediately gave it another shot. It was right at the end of delve League right around the Diablo immortal announcement and I haven't looked back. I put in 3,500 hours since then. It's probably my favorite game of all time. Outside of bloodborne

Started Diabo day one started PoE 1 two weeks ago. They have made D4 have no excitement. The excitement of D2 was every monster could drop the pinnacle gear. D4 is just handing you pinnacle gear. Where is that excitement. In Poe I never know what I’ll get. Instantly better than Diablo. Even my casual wife who likes gambling understands having random wins vs garunteed wins is always better. She also loves the side stuff in POe vs D4

The poe helmet example was literally me at the start of playing poe. I probably started playing and quit like 4 times before settlers came out and I just stuck with it and just figured it out one step at a time. Not stressing my mistakes and just playing around with different gear and currency in the game in the end though its the reason I am so damn excited for POE 2 and am confident I wont absolutely ruin my build and have the confidence to do my own thing.

GGG's game designers are legitimately fucking brilliant. Or maybe this is just the result of what Jonathan said - that when they come up against an idea that their designers react negatively to, most of the time he'll tell them to just try it anyways and see how it goes. Maybe being willing to let designers experiment and test stuff without the moneymen standing behind them with a Gantt chart is the real secret. Or maybe it's both.

@nikp3516
@nikp3516 Күн бұрын
I think Raxx misunderstands the perceived tribalism between POE and D4. I think for many of us it’s just getting fooled into playing D4 and being disappointed after being throughly let down by D3. At this point it’s sort of just fuck Blizzard in general for me. Even if I wasn’t a Poe sweat lord, I’d still disdain D4.
@tripleraze321

Yeah not everyone hates d4 because of tribalism. While I’m certain tribalism contributes to some of the hate, many people dislike D4 for no other reason than sheer disappointment. Even if I played no other Arpg games but blizzard ones, Diablo 4 could be sooooo much better, and recognizing this makes me feel disappointed.

I dont think POE players have a problem with other Action RPG's. Its specifically Diablo 3 and Diablo 4. Pretty average or actually "bad" games, that have obvious paid critic reviews; are huge letdowns, yet are so financially successful. We see the appeal of Last Epoch, and Grim Dawn, and other arpg's. And they arent judged for it. But telling us prefer Diablo 4 over Path of Exile, when you havent even played Path of Exile. Tells us a lot about your character. Diablo 4 is genuinely a 4/10, maybe 2/10 game. Its actually one of the most forgettable uninspiring games ive ever played. Literally bottom 10. We arent haters without reason. I do understand the desire for a 40 something odd dad, that only has maybe 20 hours to play in 4 months appealing to someone though. Telling us youre a last epoch fan, or a grim dawn fan. Perfectly accecptable. Telling us youre a Diablo 4 fan, you get a side eye. It's SPECIFICALLY these terrible games. Reducing it to 'tribalism' is misunderstanding the issue. POE fans are a great community.
@ruibarian5187
@ruibarian5187 12 сағат бұрын
Tempering sucks. It's not customization if there's always a best answer, you have to actually have balanced options that are viable. If every skill has a prescribed answer, you might as well just leave it as the old system, because tempering is just the same with chances to brick the item.

Correct, everyone wants to make things polarizing because that apparently gets more clicks. The internet and social media pitch two things as amazing vs terrible. When in reality it’s often great vs greater. But our human thirst for tribalism won’t allow another team to be treated that way.

The diablo 4 target audience conversation is silly. Accessibility for casuals has nothing to do with game complexity. A game can be complex and fun and interesting and still be accessible to casuals. Biggest difference between PoE/PoE 2 and D4 PoE=passion project made by gamers that wanted to make their perfect game, D4 corporate fucks trying to make as much money as possible. Jonathon made a really cool comment in Zizarans interview. He said he will never be happy until he makes the perfect game. This drives him not just making money. the economics topic is so funny. poe2 will actually incentevise blizzard to double down on the people that get addicted to gacha. because the initial cost to make a game that competes for the attention of PoE2 players will not be worth it compared to the model of just pumping marketing budget and hooking ''whales''.
@bengalbrown2834

I think the relationship goes both ways. It’s symbiotic, Diablo will continue to bring new players to the genre and eventually they will piss off a percentage of those players. Those players will either quit the genre or try out that POE game they’ve been hearing about for ages. As long as ggg don’t get bought out by a greedy corp or sell out for the numbers the relationship will exist. I think the d4 dev team could make a pretty good game if they were allowed to. I just don’t think they are given that freedom. I believe Blizzard/Activision has branches whose purpose is to figure out how to make the most money and that strategy is passed on to the devs from the start. Keep it simple and monetize the shit out of the game. Make good cutscenes and cool looking graphics to get people excited and ride it out after that. Not the best long term business plan but there’s enough people who will stick around long enough for them to draw in new costumers.

It's a game conception error yo me , to force you to play a class with only their abilities, it's not giving the player enough room to improve it their way.

i want to adress the "smart" thing. to understand what i'm about to say you need to understand motivation and i mean how it work in the brain. first of all everybody have different point of interest some ar more physical some are more mental. so if you're more of physical person of course you're not motivated to learn by having to resolve problem in your head. now that we know those basics we need to know that the brain is like a muscle the more you train it the more it perform. now we need to actually know what words actually mean instead of "for me being smart is..." no that is not how it work the term smart refer to high mental capacity tha is what it really mean. now that we have all of those information we can now talk about d4 vs poe. d4 is very simple so you don't need to be smart to play it its perfect for those who don't like thinking to much poe is forcing you to think and resolve problem that required a certain degree of motivation and it force you to actually use your brain so saying that all d4 player are not smart is a lie of course but there a much higher chance for a poe to actually be smart because of that difference. people that there point of interest are more toward mental skills are smarter cause they fun doing it so it feel like nothing for them. The conclusion of my point is yes some people are smarter then other and some game attract less smarter people its the natural selection and it always going to be like that the real problem is the people that use this fact to insult other people you may be smarter then the other guy but this person have something you don't

What Raxx says is full BS. PoE attracts do not attract people because more math. It attracts people because of much more interesting and diverse itemization, build, endgame, game mechanics, etc. Nothing to do with smartness. Also, he is still closed-eye and simply does not see Blizzard does not have gamers for gamers developers, do not have creativity, vision, or passion. Money never gives these mandatory attributes to Blizzard because this is not Blizzard. Only a name for Activision and now for MS.

There aren't more support gem options in poe2... Poe 2 just forces you to choose between less viable options. The concept of forcing a choice, is not the same as giving an option. They removed options and forced choices.

Think about how many options get removed if you can only use manaforged arrows on a single skill gem. And the option to link multiple skills to a single support. This removed literally tens of thousands of combinations of options. While forcing more choices.

I can’t stand Rax… the Narcissism is so apparent. He’ll say that because of him developers changed something in a game.

Having ad's every five mins...its a bit much and interrupts the flow of conversation. That's NINE commercial breaks in a 45min video. Makes it a hard watch, twenty mins in and I'm out. Yes, I'm sweaty, I have probably listened to every English speaking podcast on Poe 2, almost all of them the whole way thru. Pal, love your take on gaming and have followed you for years now. Just make good vids, the money follows. Looking forward to Poe2 with everyone else, just want my time respected.
