I love this, my favourite BnC video yet! As someone who hasn't studied poetry my favourite Sonnet was your piece to Mouse, it has the most dramatic Volta

Amazing video. I love your work 💜 Re: Brooks - I'd like to posit that the use of "haply" in the last two lines is also a bit of oral wordplay. Even though "haply" refers to chance, when I hear "comes haply on the verge of happiness," I'm reminded of people who enjoy their life and spontaneity such that the pursuit of happiness - the journey, as it were - brings its own happiness, even if the destination of a truly "settled" happiness or contentment is never reached. I think your description of her life as having included wonder and passion fits with that image as well

I found this video after watching your more recent ones. I love juxtaposing Shakespeare, Keats, and Brooks. They each have such unique voices while using the same form. Your insights are so thoughtful and helpful. Also I love Countee Cullens’s sonnets such as “There are no wind-blown rumors, soft say-sos”. His way of responding to Keats’ poetry is magnificent!

I wish the subject was explained this way when I was in school, because I despised it when we were told we had to write poetry and such. I still do not fully understand the material but at least I have a better understanding now. Thank you. 😊

Lol. Is it colonialism if you never ruled over the country in question? I think we can just call it straight up theft in this case? 😁 🤷♀️
