Respected Professor, in another view, Aristotle's definition of tragedy is very much grounded in Literature and does not connect with the performing art of drama. The major paradox is, manner of imitation is 'form of action ' in the definition but 'spectacle' in the explanation. Both are not the same. Tragedy is only a readable text of literature because that is based on character, speech and listener but not on actor, acting and spectator. Regards.

Dude, This is literally a class on "English" Literature. What on earth do you expect? What you perceive as a show of intelligence, is just an expert on the subject giving an engaging lecture on a theoretical topic. Just because it is English does not make it pretentious.
