This demo is the reason I bought my pitchfork. All the info I need to know about it. Also done raw without being in a mix so you can actually here how it really sounds. To much of the demos on the mix anymore. No one wants to hear I finished mix of s product. We want to hear raw what it sounds like out of the box not what it sounds like processed through a computer. Thanks for this real raw knowledgeable demo. It was a breathe of fresh air.

I need headphones. I stand alone liking the sub-n-up. It has some volume stuck but I thought the tone was the cleanest and least colored. The TCE seemed to not color or emphasize the additional harmonics. The Ehx pedals sounded synthy. I wonder if pairing these with the Ehx Knockout (one of the greatest pedals made) would clean these up. I do like the expression pedal option with the pitch fork, octave and whammy in one package. I also like the dry out on the Pog; dry to the pedal board and then to the guitar amp, wet to a bass amp. Great video, thanks for this.

I walked into my local guitar shop one day to try out the micro pog (I owned one previously years before), and ended up leaving with the pitchfork. It's cheaper, smaller, and way more versatile. The only thing the micro pog has over it imo is the ability to adjust the two octaves independently.

Was waiting for this vid! Awesome! I’m a little biased towards the Pitchfork, but having other harmonies available is great, plus in “dual” mode the other harmonies are not just what they say, but are specific like 5th/octave, m7/M6up, etc. which can be very inspiring! Add in exp out and “latch” and you’ve got a packed winner! Haha

@@geraldfriend256 Is the OC5 simulating the OC2? For some reason I thought I had read it was the actual OC2 analog circuit without all the functionality. Either way, I only ever use the modern mode on my OC5 anyway. And yeah one click for octave fuzz is great. But I have to say that I personally am so addicted to the OC5 with a Zippy Fuzz or my FZ2. Most interested in the low octave, from listening carefully I think tc seems too woolly, no attack/punch and notes don’t cut off immediately, so staccatos are impossible. Pog sounded better on the chord but pitch fork had best attack for single lines.

I always felt the octave down on the MicroPog and Pitchfork sounds the same, it's that woody middy sounding EHX pitch algorythm (I used to have also a Ring Thing at some point and it had the same character). To my ears the difference is that the MicroPog always sounds like there's still a tiny bit of bleed from the octave up, also with the pot fully turned down. For my needs I use since years a Digitech Drop, suits better what I play. But as always de gustibus! ;)

Nice video. I am not at all surprised at the dismal sounds coming from the Sub n Up because the sub knobs were set way too high. I tried both the POG and the Sub n Up (but not the Pitchfork) and IMHO I got a better sound from the Sub n Up with the Sub 1 set at about 10 o'clock, beyond that it starts to become too bassy for me(Sub 2 was useless to me). Conversely the POG's Sub Oct needed to be set higher (at about 2 o'clock+) to get more lows. I'm just saying that the bass kicks in way sooner on the TC electronic and should not be set identical to the EHX products to get the same result (ex; like the bass setting on a Roland amp vs Fender amp). BTW I really liked the EHX POG, costs more but probably worth it.

The Sub'n'Up sounds really compressed and muddied to me. The Pitch Fork sounded good clean, however when hit with a wall of fuzz, compressed a lot more than the POG did. For the cash, I'd say the Pitch Fork still reigns supreme, even though you seem to lose just a smidgen of the audio quality and some people purchasing won't benefit from some of the features it has because they're so eclectic. I do want something that has the ability to blend BOTH an octave up AND down though, so there's that part of me that's wanting to have a POG married to a Pitch Fork.. Also though, where do you find those super thin patch cables?

I don't like the way the Sub 'n' Up sucks the life out of the signal, but love the Pitchfork's liveliness. The Pitchfork looks like your best bet and you can get it fast through Sweetwater, but if you don't route it through a bass amp then you'll get the tone but not the oomph, which imo is the whole point of a bass player. Unfortunately bi-amping is a whole other can of worms that I don't recommend putting the effort into for just a short-term fix. You might be better off finding a temp bass player, using a backing track, or just doing without.

i'm a bass player, would the pitch for perfect 5th work for filling up space under a guitar solo in a trio setting?

Ideally get 2 pitch shifters tune the first to a 5th up and the second to an octave up then put them on at the same time you'll be filling the bass and guitar frequencies

I still love the pitchfork, the sub n up has a lot more low end in my experience but the pitchfork has been more usable for me.

@@60CycleHumcast for my purpose I loop a base line with it ... and use the different sounds when I play with trio I’m only guitar no other instrument besides drums and vocals - what would you suggest for that ?

@@oliveratheissen8539 it looks like sweetwater has the sub n up in stock, they usually ship pretty quick but you might want to give them a call to be sure it will get there on time. I think most octave pedals will give you bass sounds pretty decently in that application, but the sub n up does feel extra fat compared to others I’ve tried. It honestly made me nervous for my speakers when I’d use it.

Pitchfork probably sounds the most interesting to my ears. I'm just a little surprised people considered the PF the most "natural sounding" as it's very metallic sounding, but musically metallic sounding 😁
