Another great season of The Move! Your team is the best, Chapeau and many thanks! Tadej just has a different perspective on the sport than LA and JB, he said at the beginning of the year that he would rather win Le Ronde than the TDF this year, so he has already answered that question. Thanks for a great season, guys. Great point by George about the mental toughness of Primoz Roglic. Bora was a good choice for him. You could say the same about the mental approach of Jonas Vingegaard. His focus is on winning the TDF and nothing distracts him from that. I don't understand Tadej, though. Nobody can win them all. Why can't he have a rational long-term plan for each season and stick with it? The one time he went head-to-head against Jonas this year besides the TDF was at Paris-Nice, where he crushed Jonas and everyone else. Who remembers that besides me? And even sensei Johan has to look it up to confirm Tadej is the no. 1 rider in the world rankings by a huge margin. To me that illustrates Lance's point that the UCI rankings, significant though they may be, don't capture our imagination the way the TDF does. Which Lance won seven straight times.
@henriksylvestolsen4885 Жыл бұрын
He crushed Jonas 2 times in Tirreno-Adriatico as well in 21 and 22 - it seems like March is the month to beat him -wonder why.
Look, Pogacar's real goal is not beating the TDF record, I am sure that if he gets it will be great, but his real goal is to be remembered as one of the all time greats. Besides 2 TDF wins, he has one already 5 monument wins, so career wise he is much ahead of Vingegaard who has won 0. If Vingegaard ends his career with 2 TDF's more than a Pogacar with 10 monuments more, only Tour-centric folks will think Vingegaard is the best of the two... because to be one of the all time greats in cycling you NEED to win more than the Tour.

Crazy season for both Pogacar and Vingegaard. Difficult to compare one day race wins to stage race wins. Imagine if Vingegaard had gone for the Vuelta win on Angliru and the following stages, then he would have won: Tour of the Basque, Dauphiné, Le Tour de France and La Vuelta :O And the same goes for Pogacar... Remco said he stays with Soudal. Here's what he said today: "The team continues, so I will stay,” he said, putting an end to the speculation. "There were a few difficult moments, but next year we’ll go for it," he added, with the Tour de France the expected major goal. So it will be interesting if Ineos is still chasing him. Maybe he just said to calm down the speculation after the merger/take-over bust? we shall see over the winter. It is clear that Pogacar wants to be a COMPLETE racer, not a TdF only sort. Pogacar's season was far better than Vinegard. Despite what Lance says, the TdF is NOT the only race. There are other important races, the Tour of Flanders is a crown jewel in any racers palmares. Pogacar still won 2 stages and finished second on the TdF. Winning Flanders, Amstel and Fleche is by itself a great feat. Pogacar is simply bad to the bone, as Bobke would say.

I agree with Lance, Remco is the biggest looser in this, as he knows that with Soudal he stands no chance in competing with Pogacha or JV in TDF, wont be suprised that he breaks the contract in frustration after all😅. 2024 will be a 3 horse races where Remco will ship at least 1 hr on his bad days and beg for mercy to win some stages from these guys.
