Isn't a6 at 30:15 the best after all because it secures queen or promotion at least? black bishop a6, white knight c7, black bishop takes d3, white knight takes a8, black bishop takes b1. Queen can't eat because she obviously dies for nothing. On the other hand black bishop can just go c2, queen takes, promotion queen, white queen takes b1, black queen takes b1. If after black bishop takes d3 and white queen takes d3, black queen check on b1 and white rook is gone, b1 promotion and white queen has to sacrifice again. Am I not seeing something?

Aman from chessbrah even went as far as saying that it is essentially a blunder. Am I missing something? Is the position somehow different here?

At 24:20 is there a reason why the best move isn’t queen takes e7 pawn? It wins a pawn and creates a rook trade, and if accepts the trade black loses at least a bishop.
@Evilanious4 жыл бұрын
After Rf8 you've only won a pawn. Black will save his pieces. You could have won two pieces for a rook as Daniel recommended, which is better. I know numerically you win 1 point of material in both cases, but in this case the numerical way of looking at it is flawed. Two pieces for a rook is a much more favorable trade than most beginners and intermediates give it credit for. Especially because in this case it gets rid of all of blacks active pieces for the price of a passive rook.
@Evilanious4 жыл бұрын
Looked again. There's another problem with your move. You are opening the file your king and queen are on. Not too safe as black can still castle queenside and crush you on the g-file with his rooks.
@elmok4 жыл бұрын
@@Evilanious yeah, but after after qg7, re8, re1, black has another hanging pawn(h7) that can't be defended in one move. two free pawns as apposed to 2 minor pieces for a rook and a pawn is surely a decent move, right?
@Evilanious4 жыл бұрын
Yeah now that I look at it better, if qxe7 and black castles queenside white is in horrible trouble. The threat is not even to win the exchange, but Rg8, attacking the queen and if you save the queen, Bf3 or Kh6 might be mate or win the queen anyway. I'm not sure you can stop that. Sorry. This is my third reply. Should have calculated first, then answered.
@elmok4 жыл бұрын
@@Evilanious right, but his queen side is also quite open to attack. say for instance q#g7,re8 re1, 0 - 0 - 0 q#h7. let's say he forces away your queen. q#h7,rh8 qg7,rg7 from here you can force a queen trade qf6,q#f6 p#f6, and even with an expose check (bf3 or bf4) king still escapes to f1 and white has a few attacking ideas
@oOPPHOo4 жыл бұрын
I respectfully object to the GM opinion at very end. At Charlie''s level, it can often involve less risks to just fish for pawns or promote a defended pawn. Exceptions of course apply when you're under time pressure, because even with 2 queens it will take time to find the checkmate when the king is surrounded by pawns. And that's exactly how Charlie lost that game hence why Danya made his point to begin with. I guess I don't object as much as I clarify. The prophet sees all.
