"Now, if you could consistently hit yourself, that would be great..." Such positive attitudes throughout are the best part. Learning from Nick is so easy, fun, and encouraging:)

This definitely is by far THE BEST explanation of a five beat weave I have ever seen. I've been spinning for more than three years and I'm stuck in mediocrity. This has been one thing I've never been able to master and I'd written it off as impossible for me. This video has definitely given me a new look at this move and I'm ready to try again! Keep it up!! :)

This is the first video I have watched where I GET what's happening. Using fingers only first with the right leading and pointing the way really helped me grasp what is going on. Most of the time I feel like a cat watching a ball of string lol. Thank you.

The overhead view here is really helpful, as is the focus on hand movements without the poi. I had reached the point where I was 'catching' one of my arms, but couldn't figure out whether that was right or not. Your catch'n'lead explanation made it fall into place. Thanks!

WOW. You are...THE MAN!!! Your videos are amazing. Please keep them coming. After watching this video I immediately learned how to do the 5 beat weave. I could never understand the concept for the 5 beat weave before this. Thank you very much man!!! I love poi!!!

You really are amazing at describing the moves and breaking it down into a bunch of helpful "stepping stones" that help so much with learning the move. I just got the forward three-beat weave last night and I'm going to work on this one soon, though I think I'm going to figure out backwards 2 and 3 beat weaves first.

I think you are a great teacher. For now i was just watching video, not trying to do this. But finally after long time i UNDERSTAND how this is happening. It was a black magic for me at first. I bet, that thanks to your video i will learn this very quickly. I can imagine, it's pretty amazing, that after all those years, your video still helping people to learn poi dance. Greetings from Poland ;)

WOW I really wish I would have learned this with the 3beat...You're totally right, muscle memory is a crazy thing! I consider myself "intermediate" but this took me nearly 3 hours of constant drilling to get halfway decent at. It really humbled me! The bit with the "catching the wrists" was what finally helped it click. I can peacefully go to sleep now... :) Cleaning it up is tomorrow's plan! Thanks Nick!!!

Thank you! This is an awesome video. When I first started playing with poi I did the 5-beat weave naturally. Then my friends showed me the 3-beat and I totally lost the 5-beat. I love how you show your hand movements from above. So it looks like from the perspective of the person spinning. It makes it so much easier to follow along. Mahalo!

I'm playing poi casually since November now and i just love your videos :) I have to learn it all by myself, because I don't know anyone else playing poi and I am at a point where I can hardly learn about videos anymore, because they either show basics or don't explain the moves good enough to let me repeat them. Today it took 2 hours of practicing the 5-beat-weave (hell, my wrists hurt that much because of the wristflipping) but finally it made "crack" and it now it works! Thank you so much :)

I waited soooo long before learning the backward 5 beat weave, but now I finally started to get it right. He is absolutely right, if you wait too long it will be really hard to break the 3 beat pattern. Thanks Nick! :)

I've been trying to get this for at least six months. I watched three videos today that I watched a long time ago to try and see if I could finally get it. Your video was the third and the moment you said that "in a three beat weave, your left crosses first... in a five beat, your right will" that was it. I got it!!! YEAH!!! Now to translate that to hoops. :S Thank you!!!

You guys are why I love poi so much [: Most of my friends that spin son't live near me (like 2 hours away) and so i'm never exposed to new poi and when I find a new trick or stumble upon a concept with the poi that I want to find something to make of it I just go to your page and you have something for it! You explain everything so well and so thouroughly I usually get it right away! You guys are the best :D
