This just seems so weird to see Wayne Gretzky on this show. I know that he had just completed his first season with the Los Angeles Kings at the time, but he seems really out of place here. I'm a big hockey fan, but I'm sorry.

That's pretty much the whole theme of this episode, and what made it funny. In his monologue, he said when he was first approached to do the show, he thought, "It's just acting. How hard could it be? Just memorize a few lines", but then he said he very quickly found out, (and I quote), "When it comes to acting, I'm a hockey player." So the whole show had him in "fish out of water" situations like this.
