There are three types of breaks in surfing, *Beach Break*, *Reef Break*, and *Point Break*, each is defined on where the wave "breaks" on landfall. Point Breaks are the most popular because of the traveling pipeline (letting surfers ride the wave longer), and unlike the others they are very unidirectional.

Great movie. You should see Keanu Constantine and Chain Reaction and The Devil Advocate. Also Patrick Swayze Road House and Ghost . Fyi Gary Busey was already in a great surfer movie you should see called Big Wednesday. The singer of Red Hat Chilli Pepper plays a small role in this movie. He is the guy who shot his own leg. Point Break was also Tony Stark nickname to Thor :) because of Patrick Swayze blonde hair. The remake suck don't watch it. Another early fun underrated Keanu Reeves movie is The Night Before you should see it.

I second this recommendation. While it's true that Keanu Reeves isn't British and doesn't *look* anything like the John Constantine from the HELLBLAZER comics (and later on, the TV series), he *acts* the part very well. My opinion? Take the movie on its own merits, not as an adaption; it's a great movie. (Plus, it also has Tilda Swinton in it. I will watch anything that has Tilda Swinton in it.)

Anthony Kiedis and Flea both appear in the 90's movie The Chase.

Saw this movie on the big screen multiple times. It was amazing-especially the skydiving scene. People who weren't around back then don't get what a big deal it was for Keanu Reeves. After "Bill and Ted", Keanu himself was perceived to be Ted in real life. Everyone thought that was his real personality. In a way, he was a joke. Ted was the only role he was really known for. "Point Break" leaned into the perception that he was a California "dude" but made him an action star and a leading man at the same time. This is the movie that made his career possible. It changed how the public perceived him.

Red Dawn and Road House are fantastic movies you both will enjoy immensely. And if you haven't seen The Outsiders, its an outstanding film with a huge cast of greats you will recognize including Patrick Swayze. Another overlooked early Keanu film is The Rivers Edge. A truly excellent movie.

Fun fact. Since the scene was spoofed in "Hot Fuzz" (along with "Bad Boys 2", just getting permission to use this scene was the hardest part of that entire film's production.

7:36 Bodie's name is short for Bodhisattva from Buddhism, essentially an enlightened being whose goal is awakening. Also, one who has attained such a degree of enlightenment that they can reach nirvana, but who out of compassion remains behind to help others on the path. A perfect fit for Swayze's character and how in his own unorthodox, misguided rebel way, sought a higher spiritual plane and sense of self, and sought to enlighten those around him.

Always fun to see you both going in blind, I don't know if you ever saw Hot Fuzz from The Cornetto Trilogy but there's a big Point Break homage in it, if you've not seen it you're missing out. This also has low-key one of the funniest lines ever, "Back off War Child, seriously"

@@robertcampbell8070 I remember it torn to shreds, granted I was in 6th grade lmao. But I 100% remember the actor's, plot, and several other things getting shredded. Keanu's "California surfer dude performance" being the big one. The ending where Keanu traveled the World to let Swayze just paddle off after killing Busey and kidnapping Tyler another. The plot DOES SUCK to be fair lol, but it's still fun.

Patrick Swayze is just on another level in this role (and, I think, that's what you always got from Swayze!). His charisma and performance in this is just unmatched IMHO. My wife and I are really enjoying watching movies with you two. ❤ Thanks for sharing! Oh, and yeah, Roadhouse IS a classic action flick. I love this movie. So glad you enjoyed it! While this is a great action movie, I also think there's a certain serious undertone that makes it feel a bit more adult than a lot of action films. Johnny changes so much from being a 'blue flame special' to a man who can let his perp go, knowing he won't survive that wave anyway. All on his first case.

I think we can say this without hyperbole: Point Break is not only the finest piece of American cinema, it is one of the great works of Western Civilization. I hope archaeologists dig this movie up 3000 years from now and gaze upon it in wonder like when they first uncovered King Tut's tomb.

Preset it to deploy your reserve chute at a given altitude. 'Won't matter if you're passed out, dead, or what. Point break. Where the coastline sticks out into the water and the waves break first out on the point and then just peel off down the line at an angle instead of straight in to the beach. Long rides and tubes.
