They couldn't care less. On top of not caring, the legislature is actively and aggressively changing laws to prevent us from protecting ourselves. The left can hate guns all they want, but this is a prime example of one of the benefits of having the 2nd Amendment. She should have been armed, I really wish she had been. The thought of my wife going to the trails with my kids unarmed is ignoring the reality these lawmakers have created for us. I hope this woman doesn't let this violence take over her life. I was attacked and badly beaten in an attempted rape 59 years ago. Like this poor young woman I was changed by that trauma in obvious ways and some not so obvious. It certainly made me hyper aware of my surroundings and I remain so to this day. My attacker was challenged by another man and, after a moment of hesitation where he looked like he'd attack my rescuer, he ran off. He was never caught. I can't even begin to imagine how women who actually get raped - or have a horrible experience like this lovely young woman did - ever fully get over it. I wonder if they do? She is now in my prayers.

For the next 24 hours I could not understand why this was being down played, we new something serious had happened due to all of the police and emergency vehicle activity. Once we got to the road that leads to the Owens Beach parking lot we talked to the guy and his dog whose wife saved you, he stated the suspect had a knife so be careful if you see him. Police spokesperson in youtube video ID K5Fhr4T-Lh0 at time mark t=941 said it was a black male, age mid 20 to early 30, between 5'9" to 6' tall, did not look like a transient, wearing all black (shoes, slim pants, hoodie), distinctive afro style that sticks out 3 to 6 inches from his head, and small goatee. The police sketch has been confirmed by both the victim and the witness as being accurate.

@HeywoodJablowme-ro5ut We as a society are in this position because of that attitude. Man the F up and fight back. That kind of aversion to conflict is why these people exist and prey on the weaker and vulnerable.

So grateful she is alive and for the people who helped her. How horrifying that he is still out there. As a woman who enjoys similar walks I never feel safe unless I have my dog with me, this is a sad reality of being a woman. Wishing us all well.

No offense but that's a FALSE sense of security. You FEEL safe but in reality you're not safe. You're going to need more than just your dog. Unless you spent thousands of dollars to have your dog trained to defend.

Ladies please arm yourselves when going alone anywhere, or bring a friend along with you. Probably best not to go it alone. Way to many crazies out there just waiting to harm or even kill. Sad but true.

I remember hearing a story like this where a community had just had enough of crime. They began a vigilante pact where they would patrol the parks, the streets, the walking trails just every where. And when they would catch a perpetrator commiting a violent crime they would all subdue and dispatch the predators with extreme and absolute finality for the violent predator. When police investigated they could find no witnesses. The community ended up as one of America's safest and most livable cities. The old and young alike could enjoy there parks, the walking paths. Children could play outside and walk to school again. Many of the old Judges and Prosecutor's that would not put the criminals away no matter how many times the Police arrested them, they were encouraged to move elsewhere. This can happen anywhere when people decide they have had enough.
