In the Twelfth Month of Winter, my swage press said to me..."Let's get to the point"!
►I'm using a BT Sniper Deluxe kit for swaging .224 flat base and rebated boat tail bullets (a one-off custom order RBT kit).

Thanks. Like most things, there's bit of a learning curve, and the more you do it, the more you learn, and the easier it gets. I was learning while making this series, and it definitely shows at times.

Accuracy Tests!! I'm sure that the viewers would like to see some groups fired with them. I have been following your series since you started it. It would be nice to see the end result, For all those viewers that have been wondering if all this work is worth it? ,,, I know that this is a craft, Just like any other precision thing, you have to desire to do it. It is more than a "Save Money thing" Most people that get started in this art usually get burned out on it. It's a desire thing like I said. anyway, They are Good looking bullets it would be nice to see some good looking groups. Dave.

Thor's Axe777 I'm going to send some to Elvis and FC45LC to make up for the oversized ones. They're far more qualified to do accuracy testing than I am. We just got hit by that snowstorm here in the Northeast. I forgot to add that I'm still running iron sights on my AR. I'm trying to narrow down my options for my first scope. My budget is around the $400 mark, but I'm still having trouble making reticle and magnification decisions, though I have been eyeing the PA with AACS in 1x8.

+1 On Thor's Axe777 request. Just caught up on the process. Just a whole different reloading scene, but looks very promissing. I'm not really a name here on the Tube. But im in a sunny state that hits the Range often which has lots of acres. Would love to test and share results

I'm not exactly a name here either. As you can see, this series is the only thing I've done. My video posting days started when Elvis reviewed some bullets I sent him, and some people insisted that I post some videos, so I threw my first one together a few hours later. I never even intended to post videos, but here I am. Funny what can happen someimes. I'm just an idiot with a cell phone camera, who in some cases, such as the upcoming 17 HMR/22 WMR stuff, is still figuring some of this out as he goes along. Tonight I finally settled on a good trim length for 75 gn, 77 gn & 80 gn bullets made from 17 HMR.22 WMR casings. Now I have to settle on a trim length for 69 gn & 65 gn. What twist barrel? If I had some untrimmed 17 HMR/22 WMR, I could make 90 gn HP-RBT, but you need at least a 1:7 twist for those monsters. I can make them with short soft tips with the trimmed casing that I have,

You're definitely right that it's not for everyone. Especially those who only want to point and shoot, and think that reloading in any capacity is too much work. If I shot 300 blk, I'd just cast & PC, but it's not quite as easy for .223/5.56 without readily available COWW or spending money at Rotometals. I weighed my options and went with the upfront costs and extra work involved in swaging. I understand the "burned out" thing, and I mention how I avoid that in one of the videos by setting easily attainable goals, setting time/amount limits (and usually exceeding them without realizing it), and doing things in batches over time. It really goes a long way. For me it's ALL hobby, and part money saver, since I'm supplying bullets for 2 on a fixed income, so it actually helps me in that regard. It keeps me busy, including my mind (it really helps keep me from vegging out in front of the idiot box while arthritis gains ground).

I probably wouldn't have gotten up the courage to start reloading if it weren't for FC45LC, Elvis, and some others (big and small) sharing their knowledge and wisdom on YT. Forums help a lot, but seeing it in action helps a lot more. I just built my AR this year, and that's when I started reloading brass cartridges (last year I bought a shotgun and started reloading shotshells). If I buy a gun, I also buy reloading equipment for it. I definitely jumped in with both feet on this one. BT Sniper told me that swaging 223 was the most difficult, and that everything else would be easy. I think he meant getting a "feel" for it more than the actual work involved, but I'm not exactly sure. The 22lr stuff isn't really hard, but the heavy bullets from shortened 17 HMR/22 WMR casings is a bit more advanced than I though, though I'm starting to get it figured out after a bit of a rough start. So far I've found that 75-80 gn take the same length casing. I'm off to figure out 65-69 gn. I'm running an 18" 1:8 Wylde, and tend to use 5.56 load data with these.

Now there's something BT should offer. Sample packs might generate more sales. See if you can work something out with him. If not, get back to me. He does have a money back guarantee (30 day IIRC). I'd suggest getting everything gathered up and ready to go before ordering to take full advantage of that time.

I made some of the stuff I use from scrap materials, and got my dies during a sale, plus I had to get a Lee Classic Cast press (base punch adapters for other presses are available), so If I had to put rough full price on things, I'd be over $2k. Each caliber differs in price depending on how many, and which dies are needed (and other options). BT Sniper: castboolits.gunloads.com/forumdisplay.php?114-BT-Sniper Corbin: www.corbins.com/dies.htm www.corbins.com/kits.htm (dies letters (R,S,M,H) for different presses) Corbin makes some serious swage presses with available reloading die adapters.

Just check the "Bullet Swaging" playlist. The heavy bullets are more involved and require 17 HMR or 22 WMR brass to make.

That's where this all began. He's the first one that I sent bullets to. Then some people requested that I make a video. but my point form die was out for repair, and I quickly realized that I couldn't show the realities of what's actually involved in just one video because I wanted to give as much of a "real world" impression as I could without it being one long mess.
