@6satan6ist6 just being able to make your own jacketed bullets. It is another skill one can have so when shortages and things like that happen, you can still make a jacketed bullet. It costs me 8.00 per 100 bullets I make. Since swaging, I have not had to buy bullets to load. For me, its saving money.

i'm interested in if these will affect your barrel in any way (mainly premature wear) as the metal engaging the rifling is brass and not the usual copper and isn't brass a more "aggressive" metal compared to copper when it comes to friction and wear?

Softer metal + a new barrel is part of shooting if you shoot a lot. A couple hundred for a barrel is not a big deal if it takes $5000 in ammo to wear it out ( its likely more like 50,000 rounds +)

I wouldn't use copper pipe with both ends open (like you'd have to on a JHP made with the swager) due to case slippage, I've had plenty of chances to laugh at my buddies who were shooting their 'special' deer bullets, (dum-dums with the tip cut off,) and had the lead core jump out of the copper jacket, most hollow points jacket wraps around the bottom to prevent that, maybe if you used a torch to fuse the lead to the case it'd hold together...

Thanks Eric. Hope they shoot well for you. I need to work on some different powders myself to increase the accuracy from my handgun. Also just to let ya know, these was bought from CH4D, I can not afford corbins, wish I could, these swage dies run you 129 and some change so it is not a bad price to get you into swaging. Good luck with them!!

@pukkepop They are very accurate. Curious as to why you do not see how these can not be? Are you thinking because of the ejector groove still on the case at the head? Believe it or not, that has no affect on it whatsoever. I have seen some great accuracy from other shooters. My problem, I have not found the right load combination for my handgun..

@dibdevlon I read about these over at cast boolits when I was looking to get into swaging. The idea has been around for years. Just like most things, it had died out. There are numerous calibers you can swage for using different cases for the jackets. Once you find the right bullet, powder combination, these are accurate. There are a few guys over at cast boolits using these in competition matches..

Just surfing around---interesting to see how polymer coating has rendered swaging essentially obsolete. You can now cast any kind of crappy range scrap and coat it in Hi Tek and it will shoot at least as well as all these equipment- and labor-intensive bullets.

chrome...is way harder than either. They aren't even tested the same. Copper, and brass are relatively soft and are tested on the rockwell b scale. Chrome, is very hard. In fact is it is harder than most materials. Including cobalt, tungsten, and titanium. (all of which are used to alloy, or coat cutting tools, to make them harder). So...don't worry.

He told me he had no use for it and if I could use it, then it is mine, He said he had over a couple thousand. Being I get my lead free, these 40's he is giving me is free, then I get free jacketed bullets. The 8.00 per 100 figure was based on having to buy the 40 brass (3k+) from a friend.
