I camped here since 1990s surf fishing with my Dad...after social media this place gets booked up year around now...need to make reservations months ahead....lol

I know.. it's super crowded now. During Covid, it seems that all the campgrounds went online with reservations and people book up months in advance 'just in case' making it hard to get in..unlike the old days when campgrounds were first come/first served so you had to be serious about going to take a space!

Yes! Some people don't have an RV and just book a site and set up a tent on the sand...very cool place to camp!

I would recommend reservations.. it was fairly empty when we were there in Wintertime.. but it was cold and rainy, so I think many people just didn't show up.. but since its right on the water, it is very popular...

We reserved far in advance. It seemed like it was going to be full online, but since the weather changed, I think alot of people cancelled and there was plenty of room for first-come/First-serve.. but I would suggest to reserve just in case.

Could be worse! We camped near San Jose and woke up at 3am to flashing lights that got worse by the minute. While we were far enough away from the highway to escape the noise, we didn’t think about being directly in the path of their headlights, LOL! The morning commuters were so numerous it boggled my old brain.

Yikes! didn't think about being in the line of headlights.. luckily we weren't.. just the noise of early morning commuters (what a great commute to drive along the coast everyday to work!)
