Just getting into archery and the amount of different variables that go into a bow is mind blowing. Ballistics in essence is simple but the science and maths involved is complex guess the same could be said for archery in general. Looks simple but simple doesn’t mean easy!!! It’s Intimidating but only because i don’t fully understand it yet. This video helped me get a vague grasp on things. Cheers Now I just have grain calculators , all the different inserts, fletch lengths \, patterns etc… Going to bed before my brain explodes gunna be a while before I reach the Zen I got into archery for 😂

@@courier3320 i've not actually got or read it but i have heard its good. I was just talking about the zen 'switching off a busy mind feeling' you get when you do something like archery. Kinda get the same thing when i play music , you know when your so engrossed in something you get lost in it & that inner voice that talks so much gibberish goes silent for awhile 🤣

Great Job again on this. I shoot the same GT arrows. No longer cut and just change point weight. To simple .

Useful information. One more thing, the weight of the insert is also important.

I shoot cedar arrows with my longbow and once in a while I notice a bit of tail wiggle. I thought initially that I needed to either change out the tips (not an easy procedure) or change to a different weight arrow entirely. I realized that it wasn’t happening to every arrow and not all the time. As soon as I concentrated more on my release the problem disappeared.🙄. Moral of the story, pay attention to what you’re doing. Great video, Griz. Cheers mate👍😎🏹🇨🇦. P.S. what make is that wooden compound bow on the wall behind you? Never seen that before

If you add weight to any part of your arrow your limbs will recognize a greater mass to push which will slow them down , and the arrow will drop off early So you must add extra energy to your bow to pick up the extra mass.

I have a 45lb bow at 28” draw. Now I am shooting 28” 500 spine 100gr field tip arrows but I want to increase my point weight for hunting, how should I go about this and what weight should I use? Thanks in advance, loved the video!

Every video I watch on arrows just seems to contradict every other video. It seems like the bottom line is just find what works for you. There is no right answer.

It really is surprising how much difference point weight can make on an arrow.

Heavyweight arrow point matters when you wanna go to hunting and want heavy and high FOC arrow. May be heavy brass insert and heavy points with stiffer spine.

I like wood, being a traditionalist, but after a few years not shooting, when I came back to it, I wasn't getting groupings like I used to, suspecting my arrows are a bit old n knackered I bought a set of carbon arrows. Groupings immediately much better confirming my suspicion it was arrows. I suspect they're internally fractured from hitting wood work not target ect. (I assume wood ages too. And will be effected by humidity etc) Woods great, but fractures and breaks easier. I intend to go back to wood, but after I've saved for the instruments to measure arrow strength flexibility (I don't know the names of the yet, because I've never had to bother!) I'll buy a stack of spines and group them into same strengths etc. So I have some consistency. Been planning on starting to fletch my own arrows anyway, just collecting the equipment to get started.
