Hey! I wonder if you can answer a question for me. So i have a friend who bakes his burger patties. I tell him to stop but he says they are perfect like this. I thought everyone knows its either grilling them or in a frying pan with them so i wanted to ask you now: what do you think about burger patties in the oven?
@Shalakor
@Shalakor 2 жыл бұрын
@@denaze05 Have you ever heard of meatloaf? The principle is kinda like that, but with less steps. ...Pan frying is just generally more practical since you can keep more easily keep a close eye on the cooking progress, but an oven can cook just about anything you'd prepare in a skillet if you want to go through the effort of figuring out what needs to be done to get your desired result.

@@Shalakor It won't work anything like meatloaf though. A burger is relatively thin, which means it won't get good browning in the oven. Even if you were to turn on the broiler you wouldn't get as good a crust as you'd get in a pan or grill. The other thing is the composition of meatloaf is different, and has ingredients in it that help it retain moisture (breadcrumbs, milk). The burger would get pretty dry if you cooked it long enough to look not grey.

@Dunkle0steus 2 жыл бұрын
@@cychan.tkd.krt_ The official English pronunciation of the city is /ˈkoʊbeɪ/, which is the way I described it. In this case we're approximating the Japanese vowel sounds to their nearest common English equivalents. The actual Japanese pronunciation of ベ is going to sound relatively foreign to an English person. Ending a syllable on a short e vowel is unnatural in English phonology.
@Nat_the_Chicken
@Nat_the_Chicken 2 жыл бұрын
@@Dunkle0steus I think either way of describing it would be valid, some English speakers (like me) will actually be interested to see how the Japanese pronunciation differs from English pronunciation rules and may want to try to pronounce the word in a more "authentic" way. So it's nice to have the core bear thing, but ko-bay will work for most people.

See my grandma actually TAUGHT ME to hold the knife with my finger straight out on the back of the blade. She claimed this gave better control, and it certainly gave better control than the technique I had been using, the problem was that due to getting my pointer finger slammed in a car door as a child, my pointer finger is permanently curved slightly. It wasn’t until taking cooking classes in highschool that I was taught the actual proper way to use a knife.
