The rule for the "-gue" ending in English, is that it's pronounced as a hard "g". Pronouncing it "mon-tog" is going with the rule and not knowing that "Montague" is one of the exceptions.

Honestly wish they did more stuff like Fitzsimmons. Imagine if you went to some random town, thinking it was a regular old quest hub. You're doing quests, thinking nothing was weird. Maybe at some point, you have to fight off some "rogue Paladins and Priests" that have been attacking the town for some reason. You go in the inn to turn in the last quest (maybe returning something to the cellar that those "rogue" Paladins had stolen), and as soon as you turn it in, the audio goes completely silent. You leave the cellar and the inn is suddenly run down. The town looks like it's been abandoned for years, and there isn't a single person to be found. The music completely cuts out whenever you return to this town. But if you die and run here after finishing the quest, everything looks like it used to, the music and the people are back and act like nothing had changed.

Slight correction on the Egan quest. That quest, unfortunately, hasn’t existed on retail since Crapaclysm. I loved doing it when I leveled my priest in TBC (my priest still has the blaster in the bank), and made sure to do it when I leveled on Classic. I had hoped Blizzard would bring it back after Harold Ramis’ death, but to no avail. We did, however, get the Ghostbusters in Return to Karazhan, so there’s that.

5:00 There's actually another explanation for this, and that's that resurrection is actually insanely rare lorewise. Very few characters are capable of actually resurrecting someone, hell, monks' resurrection quite literally implies you're just managing to resuscitate them from near-death. Only a ahdful of lore characters are shown to have the capability of resurrecting people, Inquisitor Whitemane having been one of them. The obvious question remains, "What about spirit healers?" Shadowlands explained their role as being watchers of souls who determine whether or not a person is ready to pass on, but even before this, it was implied their actual role was different than in game. The players' ability to resurrect is mostly a gameplay decision, though there's some hints indicating a bit more lore going on under the surface. The Demon Hunter starting zone, for example, has Illidan express curiosity that the player DH has a demon soul similar to his, allowing them to return from the dead.

The Montagues, Mortimer and Randolph at least, are likely references to the rich characters with those names in 'Trading Places' Ophelia is prolly named after the Jamie Lee Curtis character in that movie, and William would be Eddie Murphy's character 'Billy Valentine.'
@kneau2 ай бұрын
If the Montagues are a reference to Romeo & Juliet, I think it makes more sense for Ophelia to be a Hamlet reference.
@xgardenofedenx2 ай бұрын
The reason why majority of NPC's can't resurrect like the player character is because canonically we didn't actually die to that murloc or standing in the fire, it's just for the game mechanic. However, the lore "reason" given for our characters when we do ACTUALLY die (twice, so far) is we have "immortal souls" as stated by Illidan, who himself has one as well. Most NPC's when they die are immediately taken to the Shadowlands and most ghosts we encounter are actually just imprints of their soul. An exception to this is spirits who die in extremely traumatic ways or just simply refuse to go to the Shadowlands... Somehow. It's kind of messy. There's only been a couple of times an NPC has actually been resurrected; a few being Varian, Sylvanas, Medivh, Kel'Thuzad, Lei Shen and Inquisitor Whitemane (who also has the power to resurrect).
@Shifsabre15 күн бұрын
In the canon, spirit healers are very rare. When most people die, that's it. We're just one of the lucky ones. Normally, when people die, they pass on to the Shadowlands, but if they die in such a brutal manner, their soul can be incomplete and need closure to pass on. Think of Admiral Taylor, for instance.
@Joruuscbaoth2 ай бұрын
It isnt pronounced "Mon-tog" for Montague.... It is pronounced "Mon-ta-gyou" as in the "House of Montague, Romeo's family and then Juliet belonged to the Capulet House. Fix this or else you suffer a plague on both your houses....

So the reason most people who are ghosts don't or can't get resurrected is because you generally need 2 things 1 you need to have very or relatively powerful soul and a powerful either druid, shaman, morally good necromancer, paladin or priest
@HavocHounds19882 ай бұрын
Yeah, resurrection in the lore is incredibly rare. As a game mechanic it's simple. But lorewise it's very rare and difficult. Anduin is one of a very small number big mortals that has performed a full resurrection. Our characters are able to easily mostly because we have something tethering us to the mortal plane, so it's not our time to move on into the Shadowlands. Even bringing a soul back through Necromancy is quite difficult in the lore.
