I can impersonate quite a few character voices-except Donald Duck. I’ve watched several how-to videos on it. This one is THE most helpful and detailed by far! You even included an analysis of the character’s personality. Something the others didn’t do. Very helpful. Thanks!

Part of me wonders if this just isn't a trick that only certain people with the right mouth shape can do. I've been trying and trying and as hard as I might, it seems like my cheeks are just either too big or too lose to tighten up long enough to pass words through. I can make the sound alright and I can definitely sound like a pissed off Donald, but I can't even get a "hello" out when it comes to actual words.

I know that's right. The air hitting my throat is making my throat hurt. There should be some kind of mechanism that you can talk into and automatically create the Donald Duck voice. I can get the sound a little but that's it. I'm already getting a little lightheaded.

So I’m apparently doing this entire thing wrong. Everybody that I’ve watched (and I know a couple of people) that does the voice, they say the same thing. The air pocket, and their cheeks puff out. I can make the noise, but it’s not coming from my cheek. It’s coming from my teeth, it’s coming from the teeth just behind the canine’s (premolars?). I can hit my cheek and everything and it sounds like Donald just screaming, but I can’t seem to form words or even get air into my cheek. My tongue is resting against my teeth while my teeth are completely shut, I don’t feel any air pocket nor can I make one. I can’t even make the noise without my tongue resting against my teeth. It feels like my tongue is vibrating and making the noise. And when I hit my cheek to make some weird flappy noise, I’m hitting it near my lips near the very corner of my mouth rather than back near my ear like everybody else does.

You constantly must blow a small stream of steady air through it as you rest your tongue in between the teeth on one side.
