When you can provide those missing details/information your question can be answered, sort of. As always, other factors might slightly alter any estimated time frame, as to how long your devices would run on one Batt. and/or if a given device is even within range of being powered by the one Batt. Seems to me the amp hours being 74 (usable) AH's, is very low. I have lead acid batteries with 310 AH's. Why are the AH so low?
@PointZeroEnergy4 жыл бұрын
74ah X 29V = 2,146 watt hours. This is larger than any other portable solar generator out there. Most 310 ah lead acid batteries are only 6v, and you can only use 50% of it. So the usable power in that battery would be 310/2*6=930 watt hours. Which is less than 1/2 of what the Titan Has. The Higher voltage lower amps make the system more efficient overall.
@desert4seat2 жыл бұрын
@@PointZeroEnergy yeah... but you get four of those 6v batteries, connect them in series and parallel. and you have 12v with 310 usable Amp hours. I still think the 74 usable amp hours on your unit still seem very low comparably.
@PointZeroEnergy2 жыл бұрын
@@desert4seat To compare apples to apples, you really need to compare watt hours. Each 6v 310 amp hour battery is around 1860 watt hours (930 usable watt hours) and 92 lbs. Each Titan battery is 2,000 usable watt hours and about 35 lbs. So each Titan battery holds more energy than each 310A 6v battery, and is much lighter. If you add 4 Titan batteries, you then have 8,000 usable watt hours vs 3,720 usable watt hours of four 6v batteries. That is one of the benefits of the Titan, you can very easily add more batteries without any wiring. Just stack another on on.

Can you explain what the RV 30amp outlet can be used for? Can one get a cable that can connect from your generator into the RV power inlet?

Yes, the 30A RV outlet is designed to have an RV plugged into it to run the RV. If your RV already has a 30A shore power cable, you would just plug this into the RV outlet on the Titan to power your RV. Of course it can be used for other things as well, but that is the purpose of it.

Couple of questions: I have read that people will have a trickle charger on their batteries to keep it conditioned Does your system do this? Is it not required for yours? 2nd question: If I have a small whole house generator hooked up to an auto cut over box and I have another box with only the circuits I want to have active when the generator is on. Is it feasible to have your Titan hooked into this system and also be available if the generator stops working? (I'm not expecting this to be an auto cut over, just a manual one.) If so what general electrical parts would be required to make this possible? I was thinking that the RV 30 amp out could be used for this.
@PointZeroEnergy5 жыл бұрын
Question # 1 The Titan comes with an AC charger, but it does not trickle charge, because trickle charging is only good for lead acid batteries, and is not good for lithium batteries like we have in the Titan. The best way to store the titan is to charge it up and turn it off. It is best to cycle the battery a little bit at least once a year. Question #2 The Titan is not designed to be connected to the whole house like your whole house generator is. However if your electrical circuit that is powered when the grid is down is only 120V, and not the 240V split phase power, then you could connect it up to the 30A Rv outlet to run that panel. If it is 240V split phase, you would need to get a transformer to convert to 240V split phase power first.

@@Fr33dom4All99 We have not had time to test it on very many well pumps, but so far with the one deep well pump we tested it on, it could not handle the surge to start the pump. I was wondering is there a way to change the voltage settings of the solar charge controller so as to cut off charging at a slightly lower voltage? Even though the meter says its 100% when I reach 29.0V the solar charge controller allows it to charge up to 29.4 volts. @PointZeroEnergy4 жыл бұрын
The MPPT controller is set to charge to 29.2V, however every meter will read a little differently. 29.4V is well within the safe range for the Titan battery, and should also be fine for the LiFePo4. However I would not leave it charging up to that voltage for days without use (this is good advice even at 29.2V. Lithium batteries last longer if they are not kept fully charged for long periods of time. unfortunately there is no way to for you to be able to set the charge voltage. Will you be adding SuperCapacitors inline with the unit as a Module?
@PointZeroEnergy5 жыл бұрын
We don't have any plans to add a supercapacitor module at this time. There are still a few issues that need to be overcome with supercapacitors to be able to work well in a portable system like this. 1- Weight: The specific energy of a supercapacitor is only 5w h/kg, where lithium-ion is 120-240 wh/kg 2- Cost: The cost for a supercapacitor is about 10X as much as lithium ion per watt hour of storage. 3- Voltage (the inverter would need to work from 0 to full voltage rather than the narrow range we currently use). Even with the small range of 20-30v on the current system, the inverter is more efficient when the battery is full, so imagine how bad it would be when it was down to 3 volts... 4- Self discharge. They loose about 10-20% per day. Hopefully we will soon have this technology perfected, because I love the fact that you could have 100,000 cycles or more (anything over 50,000 or even 20,000 will last your lifetime), and that you can charge nearly instantly (not sure this would help with our application, but it would be nice in an electric car).

I'm really loving the modularity and portability design... Do you know if Point Zero plans on offering an EV charging outlet? Synonymous to bringing a full gas can for long road trips, the use-case is for bringing something like this in the back of an EV SUV/car as an auxiliary fast-charger when the vehicle's lithium batteries have been exhausted. Thanks!
@PointZeroEnergy3 жыл бұрын
HI, I am very happy that you are loving your Titan solar Generator. Currently you can charge an EV using a level one Charger. The Problem is that it charges slowly, which meant is will add 3.5 to 6.5 miles per hour. The Titan 2.0 will have the ability to produce 240V (with two or more units), and would be able to run a level 2 charger, which will be much faster, but even with that, you will need a lot of Titan batteries to extend the range much. To give you an idea, an EV will use about 0.346 kwh per mile, and one Titan battery is 2.0 kwh. That means you will get less than 6 miles per battery (5.78 miles if you had no loss in charging the battery, but you will have losses, so you will probably only get about 4.5 miles out of each battery..

@@biguzavala314 The Titan comes with two 1,000 watt mppt controllers. So you can add up to 2,000 watts to charge the batteries. This means you can charge 5 batteries in about 5 hours of sun. Watched the KZbin video where Will Prowse reviewed the prototype of this generator. I was so impressed I ordered one right away. The company was so nice to me and helpful, giving me all the advice a person could ask for, until I had paid for the Titan 1000 kit. Then they said they couldn’t ship the rigid panels (which THEY Recommended I buy) to Canada for free. I paid extra to have the panels shipped from the USA to Canada, and in the end the panels were actually shipped to me in BC from CALGARY ALBERTA, in Canada. Quite the rip off. My kit finally arrived, missing the four LED strip lights, MC4 to SAE connector and the MC4 to Anderson adapter, as well as the power cord for the charger to connect to a classic wall receptacle, to be able to charge the battery from grid power. I contacted them and they said they would let Point Zero know. I have heard nothing back from them at all. It seems like they took my money and now don’t care if they give the the product I paid for or about trying to help me now that they have my money.

Can I run my house completely off grid full time with this?
@PointZeroEnergy5 жыл бұрын
It depends on your house, but typically no, since a typical house uses 240V split phase, and can use up to 200A when running water heaters, air conditioners, ranges, etc. This unit can run only 120V and about 30A. Some off-grid cabins or homes are designed to work on less power, and use propane for heating (hot water, cooking, etc), so this would work perfect for them. The main purpose is for it to provide power to essential items (fridge, freezer, lights, microwave, small cook top stove, electric blankets, etc) when the power goes out, but not to run the entire home like normal.

@PointZeroEnergy5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your comment. I am sorry we were not able to provide that for you at this time. We are working on making an external step down that will be easy to plug in and use for this. The reason why we did not add a High power 12V output is because it would add cost and weight to the product, which most people did not need. The solution is to add an external step down like this: www.amazon.com/Daygreen-Converter-Voltage-Regulator-Reducer/dp/B07QYCX42L/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=24V%2Bstep%2Bdown%2B100a&qid=1568988490&sr=8-3&th=1 You can then attach a 24V (red) anderson sb50 port and plug it into one of the free ac charging ports. hopefully in the future we will provide a pre-build unit for you so you don't have to add an anderson plug. but it will be down the road a bit

In a real scenario I would like to power air conditioner refrigerator and maybe a freezer. How come no one ever really shows what these generators can power other than a few power tools maybe a toaster or a toaster oven or things that really don't mean anything to most people In a shtf situation
@PointZeroEnergy4 жыл бұрын
It will easily run the refrigerator and freezer (with the correct number of solar panels and batteries). However the air conditioner may be an issue. If it is 240V central air, it will not run it. In fact it would need to be a 120V 10,000 btu or less to even run it. And even then, it would take a lot of solar panels and batteries to run it full time. If you just run it during the heat of the day when the sun is out, then it would easly run it with 1000 (1500-2000 watts if you also run the refrigerator and freezer)watts of solar.

Sure it is a generator, just as much as any gas generator is a generator. We have called these devices generators for some time now, even though it impossible to have a true generator. The Titan solar Generator is as much a generator as anything else in existence, and since "generator" is the common term for these devices we will continue to call it a solar generator rather than confuse people.
