Must admit, this has to be the best episode out of the 4 that were released. The song is catchy but omg what you watch is heart breaking. Cant wait to see more episodes! X

totally agree and I think the topic was well handled. We are not in a under 18 show where you have to be so cryptic about it and I think this is an ugly topic and there is no way to show this in a comfortable way. This is supposed to feel uncomfortable without showing too explicit things but still with making us know what's exactly going on. I think the team did a great job - the song, the animation, the decision of depiction. First and foremost this feels real and not over the top - quiet some victims of SA and grooming have commented that they don't feel offended by this but rather complement this on the realness. [While of course victims don't like to talk about their own traumatic experience, most of them advocate for more education and spreading awareness on that topic [like in such a scene] - this makes it easier to speak up for victims as well! Especially SA victims often have a mental blockade about not being believed when speaking up and therefore stay silent.] I think that speaks volumes rather than the twitter users that did never experience this and cry about it being inappropriate. This is an adult cartoon and therefore the author does not treat his audience as children. Plotwise: I think the only way that angel can be free from valentino is in fact his redemption and then ascending into heaven. Wouldn't it be so nice if the final of the show would be husk and angel getting together and both being redeemed so they can be together in heaven ? This would also give the hazbin hotel (and therefore charlie's idea) a success.

@@redroseibarahime8755 Absolutely and definitely well handled in the portrayal. I must admit it did trigger me a bit at times. I've been in an abusive relationship before when the guy literally tried to stop me seeing friends and family and I ended up doing everything he wanted to make sure he was happy. But I didn't like the person I was becoming, I'm usually such a strong personality but he broke it down bit by bit with the illusion he loved me. Some of his mannerisms where exactly like the way Val is with Angel and it really hit home. You're nothing without me etc Luckily I'm out of the abusive relationship now and with a guy who truly does love me xxx So this was definitely well handled xxx

One of the things that gets me about the end of that song is Angel seeing Vox and Valentino together before collapsing There are so many implications to that

Yes and no. Vox and Valentino are business partners, and SOMEONE has to actually broadcast Valentino's porn, and since Vox owns the majority of the media industry, it's probably him. That said, it's also entirely possible Vox is hoping to leverage Angel to spy on the Hotel for the Vees, and the only leverage that might work is offering Angel his freedom from Valentino in return for spying.

"Another one of those ruthless nights" and "I disassociate, disappear" introduced very well, uncomfortably the idea that this is all absolutely non consensual for Angel. His all act exists only to give him the illusion of control, when in reality he's very much traumatized, in having become a slave of Valentino. Wonder If the part about "red hot eyes, red hot lies" talked about a past in which Angel may have been in love of Valentino and Valentino had promised him a reality that is much, much different then what Angel got stuck in, in the end. Tragic song full of subtext and content, wonderful.

and that part had an IV subdominant which is asking for a resolution from a music theory perspective. But then it crushes that wanting or longing and goes back to the sad chord vi. In summary, the part you described is asking for happiness but then the song was like (meh, go back to the sad feeling) In the key of C minor here are the chords: vi = C minor (16 beats) IV = G# major (16 beats) the order of chords to play: vi-vi-vi-vi (I'm not a- vi-vi-vi-vi bove a love to cash in) vi-vi-vi-vi (Another- vi-vi-vi-vi lover underneath those- IV-IV-IV-IV flash-ing lights) IV-IV-IV-IV Another one of those- IV-IV-IV-IV Ruth-less nights) IV-IV-IV-IV (Yeah, yeah, yeah) you can play with the chords if you want lol

The song when it first came out screamed so many things that was hard to pin down. Was it addiction to the thrill/lime light, abuse, or when the small clip came out people spouted off as SA. The small clip did scream SA but now that the episode it out Angel is just flat out abused in all ways from Val. Emotional, physical and sexual. Know the song/clips was gonna have so much more to it when people were going off the rails with the tail end clip. And after the Looser song with Husk we now know Angel is a sex addict long as its on his own terms. Angels voice actor has nailed the performance so far.

Its HELL. They are there for a reason be it killing or their actions that got them thrown in there.

This holds a rare distinction of being a scene I couldn't finish and walked out of. The producers of this episode have balls the size of basketballs portraying a male victim of SA and exploitation. Thanks for giving us a voice.

Fun fact, if you analyze the song "Poison", it's consisting of vi ii and IV which are combined in a way where it avoids major (happy) chords. Every 2nd section where it feels hopeful (like at that section where he says ruthless nights) consists of the IV subdominant major chord but then it transitions back to vi (vi is the minor counterpart of the tonic or I (which in a major scale is the happy or resolving chord)). This makes a difference because the subdominant (IV) wants to go to the tonic (I) or just to resolve in general yet we go back to the sad tense vi chord (which is the minor version of I in ways where for example, a C major scale's vi chord is A minor which is the first chord of the C major scale's minor mode, A minor). The ii chord (which is also a minor triad) is in those parts where it's a transition to something (feels like it's holding, like that part before the drop). So the way the notes and chords are composed are arranged in a way where there isn't a solution and it's also in a minor scale (minor chords are chords that sound tense/sad/melancholic). The chords in their respective names: vi = C minor IV = G# or Ab major ii = F minor And I think the lyrics explain it all by itself...

I think episode 4 is really when Angels new VA for me really hit. My fucking god i was in fucking tears when Valentine was beating him. Like it wasnt his fault at all and i just wanted it to stop. God damnit Vivziepop for making such a fucking complex character. Like Angel is my favorite character hands down

He is my favorite too, he is just so funny and cute. I want him to get out of this situation so bad and kill Valentino, it's so disturbing to watch him get beat up then groped all over by the creep. If it doesn't get better, I am going to cry...violently..lol.

I think out of all the episodes- episode 4 is the hardest to watch. You see Angel Dust in a new light and see the signs from the previous episodes hinted and at😭 Angel just needs a hug.

I’m usually not a big fan of musicals (unless it’s part of the story), but gotdamn if I wasn’t hooked on the music! I’ve just been listening nonstop to the songs. And Angel… This episode just blew me away. I honestly thought he was irredeemable. All his lines about just shacking up for the free room just made me think that. But now I’m rooting for him. I want him to be redeemed.

Kind of sucks that there probably will be people who shit on him just because he plays that kind of character as if Val is somehow representative of the voice actor, but it's the internet; people will start shit about anything It was actually funny, though, that prior to the show airing he was on Twitter talking about how "lovable" and "sweet" Valentino is. For people who knew nothing about the show, that was evil, but for those of us who did....good shit Mr. Perez. I say this as a good thing by the way, not in a "Twitter calling someone out" kind of way.
