While oversexulizinig is a response to sa trauma I don't think there's anything comforting in the rather obvious fetishization of the rape of the character Angel dust in the show itself. The fetishization of lgbtq characters in particular in media is especially troubling, because those groups are already at risk for negative stereotypes.

Personally it helped me process and open up about a particularly violent experience that I previously didn't have the ability to connect with. Delving into horrid topics with fiction is and has been a normal human processing tool. If it upsets some people or turns on others then thats the price of also helping some victims. We all get different results from fiction and honestly a lot of softer SA portrayals fail to capture the sick confusing side when you're trapped in it and its a continuous longtime trauma that gets mixed in with your behaviors you do to try and feel in control at the same time. Its a horrid music video and I'm thankful for it. Its aesthetically lovely, subject matter is reprehensible, and the pain/"pleasure" seeking is extremely relatable. What has really hurt is reading so very many people insisting its only trash/harmful and pushing survivors (myself included) to either speak out or sit in shame for liking it and being glad it exists. people mocking it and attacking the creators in VERY nasty or joking tones feels pretty insensitive to those of us that connected with it.

Vivzie stated that she created Angel because she wanted a character to project her trauma onto, because she was in am abusive relationship when she made him. Either take down the video or put in the title that none of it is true, because you could be giving people the wrong idea and vivzie could be getting hate for no reason. You're feeding me poison. Addicted to this feeling, I can't help to swallow up" is because it's a metaphore to drug abuse. Angel himself being a drug addict. Valentino's saliva is made out of pheromones. Angel is a spider, so when Val kisses him it's a bit like he's drugging him, making him addicted. Drug addicts love the feeling it gives them, but hate it as the same time because it's ruinning their lives. That's why he says "What's the worst part of this Hell? I can only blame myself". It's because he knows his addiction is ruinning his life. And when he's drugged, Val can use him to do whatever he wants and he can't fight back in that stage. HOWEVER, you should NEVER EVER parody a song that holds so much meaning behind what Vivzie went through. I was in a lot of abusive relationships. Hell, I had grown up sexually assaulted by someone close to me. And I had no idea what that kinda shit could do to me until I was in my teens. I can't even have a decent relationship with ANYONE!!! And its because of my abuser! I can form important friendships with people, but I have a hard time getting through the trauma I had gone through if I was trying for a relationship. poison shows the impact of toxic relationships and getting attached to someone who is unhealthy to be with. it also shows hypersexuality which is a very real coping mechanism. No Angel Dust is not glorifying r*pe he actually shows a very real experience for many victims of SA, grooming, and r*pe. As a victim of grooming, I resonate deeply with Angel Dust's character not all victims are going to act the same when faced with trauma, and its important to remember that coping differently is not glorifying r*pe. I really wish people would listen when I say this stuff but yet again people prefer to worry about representation they don't even have the dictation to critique especially when they don't know anything about the psychology behind it. so please don't behave like this, it is harmful to victims who resonate with Angel Dust who now feel like their coping mechanisms and the way they act are invalid or disgusting because it is very similar/ the same as Angel Dusts. Serious topics should be represented in media, it's how they get talked about and recognized. The scenes between Valentino and Angel Dust are framed as negative, painful and menacing. They're supposed to make you feel uncomfortable. (Fetish content would probably frame it as if the victim was pleased, or not make it out like the abuser is committing a vile action. This isn't the case in Hazbin, because Valentino is a clear villain in the story and hated by all protagonists). If the scenes are too much for you, or even you just don't personally enjoy the portrayal, that's fine. But you don't have to resort to ad hominems and excuses for why it's wrong for anybody to like the portrayal. Many victims find catharsis in the song. If you're judging Angel, you're judging and not believing any other victim that deals the same way as him.
