There was glam rock in the 70’s in the UK and US, but it became very popular in the US in the 80’s, mainly in LA. It was a mix of rock, punk, old glam, heavy metal... and influenced by bands such as Aerosmith, Van Halen, Led Zeppelin, Sweet, Hanoi Rocks, etc. Some well known glam rock bands were Motley Crue, Poison, Ratt, Faster Pussycat, LA Guns, Guns’n’Roses, among others. The bands were very flamboyant in their dressing and performances. There was an androgynous look on the artists. Some metal bands were influenced by this way of dressing, although their sound was tougher, such as Twisted Sister, Wasp and Dokken. That’s why people refer to these bands as “hair-metal bands”. I don’t like the term. I like to name them as glam rock or glam metal from the 80’s. Amazing time, great musicians !

TBH these bands labeled “ Glam “ was not the name all those in the 80’s and 90’s bands was considered Hair bands . Not so much heavy metal like Megadeth , Ozzy , Metallica and more but there was a lot of Hair Bands . And dam good music , I still rock Poison 😎
