Do you need an OHV permit for a jeep in Colorado and Utah? Heading there next week and I'm getting mixed answers on the internet

So the answers yes for basically for both states. Although to be honest I've never been stopped or ask to show my permit, but I do know the funds supposedly go to keeping the trails open and maintained in both states. Utah is more lenient of the two and you just basically get a print out card saying you have a permit in case some one asks you can verify. Colorado on the other hand will mail out or give you in person depending on how you get it a sticker that needs to be applied to the vehicle and so the chance of getting in trouble with state police or park rangers is most likely higher in Colorado. Pretty sure you can pick a permit up in Colorado at any Colorado Parks and Wildife location. Since I'm a local I pickup my yearly in state permit there since it's faster than waiting weeks via doing it online. But you could call them to confirm.
