18 visions played this show 100%. This was the best show I've ever been to, at least in my top 5 in terms of pure energy. I don't really know what happened to PTW after Tear from the Red - I sort of fell out of the scene then

have to admit, that i was never a real fan of PTW, but after seeing this vid i am :P

I fucking love this bootleg, all the values! And "The Opposite of December" it's just perfect...remember talking with Jeffrey about this in a concert at Debaser Stockholm in 2009 (tour with 36 Crazyfists) and saying to him that this vid/record it's like a bible in metalcore
@twiceasfastasyourass17 жыл бұрын
wow! they sound just as good live as they do on their album The Opposite of December a Season of separation! cool!

Oh yeah. Not to mention his newfound talent for singing. One of the few vocalists I've heard from this genre who can both sing and scream with conviction.
@lanvids17 жыл бұрын
The song's called "Grain of Salt." It's from their first album, Distance Only Makes the Heart Grow Fonder, before Jeff was the vocalist. Also, the quote is "I don't know how it feels? You think you're the only person on earth who wakes up every morning wishing they were someone else?" and it's from the 1995 movie "Angus."

Yeah, I had the same reaction when I first saw this video on VHS like 4 years ago in 2003. I saw them live a few nights later and had to check online to see that they hadn't got a new vocalist, because I didn't recognize him at all in person on stage compared to him in this video. His vocals have completely changed since then, too; his screams are like 8 octaves lower now than they were back in '99/'00/'01.

Yeah, I think 2005 was the year it really turned. Early '05 was when MySpace rose to fame, and thus when bands like Underoath and From First to Last (and now bands like Drop Dead, Gorgeous and Bring Me the Horizon) became the new "hardcore." There are hardcore/punk songs dating back to the 90's talking about "scene kids" with tight pants, studded belts and black hair, but it was definitely never as much of an epidemic as it is nowadays.

Incredible video! The singer was so fuckin thin! LOL I agree with SJCustomDrums: that's their fucking golden age!
@lanvids17 жыл бұрын
Nah, it's "A Wish for Wings That Work." That's what it's labeled as on the back of the CD, anyway. The title is taken from the children's book of the same name that came out in the early nineties. Plus, the song has the lyrics "Could this sky open up and accept this tortured soul, but my wings have yet to work, but my wings have yet to work" so I assume that's why they used the title.

seriously this is what i see the progression of punk as (put simply): 75'-85'=classic punk, 86'-95'=everything from harcore-punk to ska to plain old mxpx punk, 96'-2000= Blink-182 haha, 2000-04=hardcore (sometimes blended w/metal/screamo) ie PTW/glassjaw, 2005-present= BITCH punk

If you have Firefox, there's an add-on you can get that allows you to download videos directly from KZbin. I think it's called "DownloadHelper."

I remember going to see'em in CALI they were always fun. Its too bad they went MTV on everyone in 2003. Great band though. Cheers

No, no. Hornbrook's still in the band. I agree that he's a fairly unique drummer who shouldn't be replaced.
@livgrnfan17 жыл бұрын
Is that Jeff doing vocals? Man he's so skinny compared to the massive superman that lumbered on the "Apathy is a Cold Body" video. He still sounded great, though, as did the rest of the band.

I love how he doesn't hold anything back with his vocals. A lot of bands that try and immitate PTW today lack the raw emotion and the vocalists have a manufactured scream... annoying.
@lancekosty17 жыл бұрын
Hell yeah this was when mainstream hardcore was at its finest. PTW has its own bands it owes itself to but shit these days is only about black hair and tight pants its rediculous. know your fucking roots and stop giving the game up (you know who im talking to bitch)!
