BluCappedDawg There’s not really any content in Sword and Shield as well. The main game in Sword and Shield is underwhelming and too easy. The post game is awful and you’ll probably get bored of it in 30 minutes. There basically is no story at all in Sword and Shield. There isn’t even anything outside of battles that’s good about Sword and Shield. The only good part about Sword and Shield is...THE BATTLING and Battle Revolution does that much, much better than Sword and Shield could ever do with animations that look like they were made on the N64.

Beyond the already fantastic animation rigging of the new-at-the-time Hoenn Pokemon models, I cannot stress enough how GODLIKE the camera rigging is in Pokemon Colosseum/XD. Because of the way the camera is rigged to the Pokemon, it has a better cinematic presentation to it than even Pokemon Battle Revolution which came out 4 years later. In fact, I feel the camera rigging of Colosseum/XD made those two games (of a franchise that otherwise struggles visually against other Nintendo franchises) the most visually striking and immersive RPGs on the GameCube.

You are correct. This game feels epic entirely because of the animations and camerawork. (music too of course, but gamefreak makes good music as well). Every faint in this game makes you feel for your pokemon and feels impactful in a way that it never does in the mainline games. Even the way pokemon come out onto the field just feels epic. They really nailed it with these games.

You notice how it seems that only the cool/beautiful Pokemon, like Zangoose and Gardevoir in this case, are the ones that seem to exhibit real pain? Zangoose is acting like he got shot, and while she plays it off with a graceful kneel, Gardevoir looks to be in serious pain. Milotic and Grovyle/Sceptile also exhibit this.

Sigh. If only the newer games had battle animations like this. I don't care about the national dex not being in Sword and Shield, it just sucks that the main games became so....soulless after gen 5. The 3ds games had better graphics, sure. But just look at the battle animations from the 3ds games, and then the ones for XD, Colosseum, or even Stadium. You can see the difference. Despite superior graphics, the newer models look lifeless, especially compared to this. As for Sword and Shield, well...I just hope the battle animations they showed at E3 aren't final.
