Headcanon: Oak gives away all the well-behaved Pokemon, leaving him with only ill-tempered ones to study. Pikachu was going to be one of the ones he studied, but Ash really needed Pika so Oak was forced to part. Pikachu would've probably been the exact same as these guys if Ash hadn't stepped in. That or Pikachu committed war crimes before the series started and stabbed Oak in a back alley.

Ash's Pikachu was bonded to a Kangaskhan when he was a Pichu, and was captured when he had just evolved into a Pikachu because of how much he loved her and her baby. Oak captured him not long before he was given to Ash. Of course he was grumpy for the first few episodes of the anime.

0:13 Canonically Salamence is only 4'11" (1.5 m) tall, but this one appears to be over 2m tall. That's why I always prefer the average size that the anime uses for Pokémon instead of Game Freak's official heights. Like Blastoise and Charizard being over 2m tall in the anime (which was "fixed" over time to be like in the games - 1.6~1.7m tall 😔).

@@thorveim1174 Yeah, watching the anime over the years made me think Lucarios were taller, but I forgot the main characters are still kids. Having said that, there have been bigger Lucarios in the games. Legends of Arceus had Alpha Pokemon. First time I saw a Alpha Lucario my jaw dropped.

Ash been hit HUNDREDS of times...And maybe this is why he is so stupid. He invents a pokedex.
